BATON ROUGE – The national spotlight is on John Kerry and the Democratic Convention in Boston this week, but here in Louisiana, President Bush is still the leading man.

In a July 14-20 poll of 600 voters, Bush had 52 percent compared to Kerry’s 36 percent, a 16-point lead.

The poll was taken by Verne Kennedy of Market Research Insights of Pensacola, Fla., for a group of more than two dozen Louisiana business and political contributors who include both Republicans and Democrats. The margin of error is 4 percent.
(snip)

Kennedy believes that heavy Bush’s heavier Louisiana television advertising attacking Kerry was a factor.

1. Please look at
who created the poll and who paid for it. What was actually asked? Was it straight forward and simple-who will you vote for? And who was asked?

To rewrite Twain, there are lies, damned lies, and polls....

2. Vern and his 600 voters?????? You're joking, right?
The margin of error is staggeringly high in such "polls."

4. Look at it this way
Bush was forced to spend money in a state he should have sewn up. Also, there are a lot of undecideds, which means the race will get much closer, although I doubt Kerry has a shot at winning.
