JERUSALEM (AFP) - Israeli bosses are to gather at a conference this week to debate business opportunities in Iraq with hopes that the post-war climate could enable them to build up exports worth 100 million dollars a year.

The one-day conference in Tel Aviv on Wednesday, entitled "How to Make Business in Iraq", has been organised by Israel's Export Institute.

It is expected to be attended by dozens of businesses as well as representatives from the foreign and trade ministries.

"In five years time, we would hope to see exports of around 100 million dollars a year," one senior official within the trade body told AFP on condition of anonymity.

2. No wonder they told Bush to invade Iraq and take out Saddam
they needed business opportunities to help their poor economy. Did they get their oil pipeline set up yet?

Israeli firm wins public telephone contract in Iraq

Iridium Satellite Israel is supplying Iraq with public telephones worth four to five million dollars. The global satellite voice and data communication provider was authorized last month by the office of the Coalition Provisional Authority (CPA) to sell its mobile satellite communications services, subscriber terminals, and related equipment in Iraq.

According to CEO of Iridium Satellite Israel Ami Schneider, the order was placed by a Jordanian company, reported Globes. The company also plans to market several thousands of mobile telephones in Iraq.

4. Perhaps the US will be able to reduce foreign aid to Israel by
proportion to Israel's investment return? We will need the money more than Israel.

6. I agree it is both angering and frightening
What is further frightening to me is the level of ideological control over most of the population - it's as if invading another country then propping up your businesses there to make some quick cash is seen as A-OK with everyone. Nobody dares challenge the US/Israeli right to murder and loot in the nation of Iraq, and if you do question it, well then you get vilified as this anti-American or anti-Israel "leftist retard".
