Next generation is up and down.
After that it will be in the fourth dimension.

4. This is most interesting, an American company, Electolux, ships...
...its manufacturing out of the country and fires all of its American workers, then thinks it can steal design ideas from an American competitor, Maytag, because it is now building product in a country that has less stringent patent and intellectual property law enforcement, Mexico. Our neo-conservative government encourages this sort of activity by giving companies substantial tax breaks to ship manufacturing out of the United States knowing full well that if these types of disputes arise, the corruptible foreign courts are likely to rule in favor of the companies that create the jobs in their country, thus driving the U.S. manufacturer like Maytag, to seek a more friendly open competition host country. All of this ends up being good for the U.S. consumer, or what is left of them after the manufacturing jobs disappear. Does this sound like a Catch-22?

5. Electrolux is Swedish
though this is the American Frigidaire subsidiary that's involved.

Do you actually have a reference that this has anything to do with manufacture outside of the USA? This story just says Frigidaire has plants in Iowa, the same as Maytag: http://www.wcfcourier.com/articles/2004/07/27/business/local/8d499d5ac5e41a2b86256ede004b16c4.txt
