BAGHDAD, July 28 (Xinhuanet) -- One US soldier was killed and three others wounded in a roadside bomb attack on their patrol in northern Iraq, the US military said Wednesday.

A US military spokesman said that the attack occurred at 8:15 p.m. (1615 GMT) Tuesday when the bomb was detonated as the US patrol passed by the town of Balad-Ruz, some 40 km northeast of Baghdad.

The blast badly damaged the military vehicle, killing one soldier of the 1st US Infantry Division and wounding three others, the spokesman said.

The wounded soldiers were then evacuated to a field hospital and they were in stable conditions, he added.

Over 900 US servicemen have been killed in Iraq since the beginning of the war in March last year.

4. 908 forgotten fallen
thousands of wounded, tens of thousands of iraqi's dead tens of thousands wounded. A country dividing into factions, ready to cut each others throats, the only reason the american deaths have slowed recently is that they are forting up. When patrols do venture forth they are attacked, death by one thousand cuts.

12. In the words of Milo Minderbinder
Yossarian: You killed him, Milo!

Milo: He was a member of the syndicate. He had a share.

Yossarian: But he's dead, Milo!

Milo: Then it will go to his parents.

Yossarian: His parents are rich. They don't need the money.

Milo: Then they'll understand.

8. Another one from the 1ID--that division is taking a beating
and it only just arrived in March. It likely will be extended for 3-4 months as was the 1AD.

A long hard row to hoe, just to put that thug Allawi in power. What a crime.

9. Must have been traveling for some really good reason
The troops aren't supposed to leave their outposts, no more "patrols". Normally they have contract truck drivers for their resupply. Perhaps they were arriving or leaving Iraq.
