Bush eases pesticide reviews for endangered species

http://www.usatoday.com/news/washington/2004-07-29-epa-pesticides_x.htm

WASHINGTON (AP) — The Environmental Protection Agency will be free to approve pesticides without consulting wildlife agencies to determine if the chemical might harm plants and animals protected by the Endangered Species Act, according to new Bush administration rules.

The streamlining by the Interior and Commerce departments represents "a more efficient approach to ensure protection of threatened and endangered species," officials with the two agencies, EPA and the Agriculture Department said in a joint statement Thursday.

It also is intended to head off future lawsuits, the officials said.

6. The Democratic Party has not made the environment a big enough issue
Edited on Thu Jul-29-04 05:44 PM by Democat
We can win over moderates with a strong defense of America's future and by exposing Bush's attack on the environment.

If a terrorist did to America's environment what Bush is trying to do, people of all parties would be outraged.

7. Well, if you can't knock the Kerry speech off the top of the news coverage
with spurious terror alerts or delayed news from Pakistan, then you go with the other approach - release all the news that would lose you some votes (but benfit your backers), while everyone's looking at Boston.
