How about meeting with some ordinary Iraqis who are not politicians, businessmen and clerics?

7. Longer version of this story available now:
July 30, 2004
BAGHDAD, Iraq U.S. Secretary of State Colin Powell made an unannounced trip to Baghdad early Friday following talks with Saudi officials on a proposal to form a Muslim force to help stamp out the deadly insurgency in Iraq.
.
U.S. Embassy spokesman Bob Callahan told The Associated Press that Powell was met at Baghdad International Airport by U.S. Ambassador John D. Negroponte and would hold talks with top Iraqi officials, including the country’s new president, Ghazi al-Yawer, and deputy prime minister, Barham Saleh, before leaving later Friday. Powell, the highest ranking American official to visit since Iraq’s interim government took power on June 28, arrived following meetings with Kuwaiti and Saudi leaders in their respective countries.
.
A U.S. military helicopter flew Powell, who has visited Iraq three times since Saddam Hussein’s ouster, from Baghdad’s airport to Baghdad’s fortified Green Zone where the U.S. Embassy and Iraq’s interim government are houses.
.
In the Saudi port city of Jiddah on Thursday, Powell met with interim Iraqi Prime Minister Ayad Allawi, who urged Muslim nations to dispatch troops to Iraq to help defeat an insurgency he said threatens all Islamic countries.

From Imus this AM:...

"Powell has to sneak in there like a Navy SEAL because they have made such a mess of the place."
