Poll predicts Chavez victory
Poll predicts Chavez victory
Saturday 31 July 2004

A new opinion poll is predicting a victory for Venezuela's embattled President Hugo Chavez in next month's recall vote.

According to the latest survey by private pollsters Hinterlaces and Keller and Company published on Friday, 45% of those queried said they would vote to keep Chavez in office.

Only 34% of the respondents said they would vote to oust him.

But the survey also found that 21% of those interviewed would not answer questions as to which way they would vote, underscoring the fact that the undecided voters could swing the balance either way.

Earlier this week, another opinion survey gave Chavez 49% backing to 41% for the opposition.

2. That'll piss junior off after all the spook work they've done
south of the border. We receive about 14% of our oil from Venezuela and could be cut off with the oil going to China, when the times comes.

3. Another excuse for another illegal invasion
Too bad.

Do you think that this might provide enough impetus for shrub to reduce our dependence on foreign oil? Or might he declare Venezuela a terrorist nation and invade them also?

I already know the answer to that question.

We need to send junior home.

4. When the voting machines are fair and reliable and can be truly audited ..
the polls that predict the results must take care to be accurate as well.
