President Bush coming to Maine - for a wedding (Jeb's son)

Family obligations will provide President George W. Bush with an excuse to spend a summer weekend at the family compound in Kennebunkport.

The president plans to take a break from his re-election campaign to attend the wedding next Saturday of his nephew, George P. Bush.

White House spokesman Ken Liasius said the president would stay overnight Friday at the family compound on Walker's Point after speaking at a picnic in New Hampshire. Bush plans to return to Washington on Sunday, said Liasius, who would not comment on any other plans for the weekend.

Also, the local Democrats have a fantastic party headquarters in the middle of Dock Square in K'bunkport. The sign says "Kennebunkport for Kerry". (I think they've added "Edwards".) People stop and take pictures outside it. It's a terrific location for tourists.

The local GOP office is down the street and state GOP officials are a bit miffed that the Dems got the better location.

Some people are referring to the town as "Kerrybunkport"! :D

11. Here's a little story

I think it was last summer, a local woman was planning her wedding. She had arranged with a hotel almost a year in advance to hold her reception in their ballroom. A week before the wedding the Secret Service took over the hotel and she was told she couldn't have her wedding there because the Boy George was coming to visit Mommy and Poppy.

I think the end of that story was that the White House provided a tent for the hotel's lawn so she could have her reception there. But the family was NOT happy.

The locals aren't thrilled with the Bushes.

And that's all I'm sayin'. ;)
