Man Loses Bid to Open Cheney Rally
ALBUQUERQUE - An Albuquerque man has lost a court bid to have a rally where Vice President Dick Cheney (news - web sites) is to speak opened to people of all political affiliations. Cheney is scheduled to speak at a Rio Rancho school Saturday afternoon.

Albuquerque attorney Susan Chappell, a Democrat, filed a petition against the Republican rally late Friday afternoon on behalf of John Wade.

Wade, a Democrat, and at least one other man were asked a number of questions Thursday and then told they must sign a pledge of support for President Bush (news - web sites) before receiving tickets. Wade signed the petition and got the tickets, but then promptly returned them and took back the petition.

The petition for a temporary restraining order argued that requiring an endorsement as a prerequisite to attending the rally at a public school violates the constitutional protections of free speech and freedom of assembly.

1. And of course you won't hear of this on CNN
they will probably report on the rally as showing 'bipartisan, across the board support of the Vice President'.

2. Are We the People paying for these events that won't allow
We the People in? This is one of my pet peeves, although just about anything bush does is a pet peeve. We tax payers should not be paying for their fake "work" and big campaign stops.

3. A conservative co=worker of mine
(who is a good friend since college, in spite of his attitudes) mention that the people of Mass. are getting ripped off because their senator isn't doing his job. I must have been extra dense that day not to point out that ALL of us are raped because the chimp in charge is flying everywhere on our dime and when he isn't, he's on vacation. I really hope that the topic comes up again.

I think that most of his views come from the fact that he listens to a closet conservative radio station all day. That and that he does every single thing his wife tells him to do. He will run errands for her on his lunch hour even though she has the entire summer off. She teaches part time during the school year. He has become a a programmed sheep... Sad really.

8. What's with the wife bashing?
You seem to think his helping his wife contributes more to making him a "programmed sheep" than listening to consevative talk radio!

5. WE the People are paying for all of bushCo campaigning...
they are coordinating it with 'official' visits.

Even cheney on military base.
Kerry not allow to campaign on military base but both Bush and cheney do.

6. How many other rallys are held in tax supported buildings?
This can't be an isolated incident. This practice must be pursued in the courts. They can't lock us out of a building our tax dollars paying for, I don't care who they are.

If they don't like or want us there, tough, go someplace else. Let someone else foot the bill. It's bad enough we're paying Air Force One to fly him and his gang all over the place. Are we also funding their over-night stays?

Damn it! They get unlimited air time for their campaigning, too.

I hate them!

9. It really doesn't....
traditionally, time, place, and manner restrictions on the first Amendment have been allowed to stand. If they're holding a rally in one place, the other party can't come in and hold a rally at the same time and place. If that were the case, the Republicans would have held a rally at the FleetCenter at the same time the DNC was going on.
