Democrats Stake Presence in Kennebunkport ("Kerrybunkport")
KENNEBUNKPORT, Maine (AP)

There's an unmistakable campaign sign for president on the way to the Bush family estate on Maine's rocky coast. Its message? Kennebunkport is for Kerry.

About 50 volunteers opened an unofficial campaign office for Democrat John Kerry (news - web sites) in this coastal village that's home to the Bush family summer estate. It receives no money from Kerry's campaign, but its presence has upset some of the Bush faithful in this Republican stronghold. ..

.. With devil-may-care moxie, the town's Democrats had the audacity to plant their flag in a place where they're outnumbered two-to-one by Republicans. They're passing out buttons and bumper stickers, and selling baseball caps embroidered with one word: "Kerrybunkport." ..

.. The Kennebunkport Department of Code Enforcement has received several complaints from Republican residents about the location and the size of the signs.

But Brian Shaw, Kennebunkport code enforcement officer, said inspectors found that the building and signs met regulations. "I'm surprised that people were so upset," he said. "I see it as a matter of fairness in people's rights to freedom of speech. I can well imagine that the Republicans have something in Kerry's hometown." ..

1. lol
This is good. Kerrybunkport. And they sicced the city on them. Not surprised, that happens in my little town all the time. Republicans really must be the same from coast to coast.

3. Look at how the "freemarket" republicans love Regulation now
"The Kennebunkport Department of Code Enforcement has received several complaints from Republican residents about the location and the size of the signs."

They love government when they can use it to oppress other people.

6. All kinds of people are getting their picture taken there - tourists and
locals alike. In front of the office, in the toniest section of Dock Square - super-rich Kennebunkport.

"Kennebunkport for Kerry" it says in big letters. The location itself is ten times better than the local Repube office. It's a nice coup.

And Route 35 is down due to a sagging train crossing - so traffic is going haywire down there. I still think Shrub's motorcade has to pass it though!

9. Mwahaha--it's a town full of the rich without much class
and full of trendy boutique shops. There are few restaurants that are notable. It is a small town that dries up in the winter. The shops close and the owners go south. The Bush's have never ever done a damne thing for the small businesses there, or for the town, or for the state of Maine.

Thier so called "estate" looks like a outdated , dried up and sterile -place. It is not notable at all for anything but looking really bad.

I am willing to bet that if those trendy little shops feel threatened, they will turn on a dime and lambast the Bush family who has never done a damn thing to support those small businesses. The summer residents, especially the Bush family, have never done a thing for Kennebunkport small businesses, and never has done a damn thing for the state of Maine, in spite of their stupid looking "Walker Estate" which is nothing but a tired old, shingled and drab looking house that sits on a rock , jutting out on the rocky coast.

If I lived in Kennebunkport, I would be ashamed of the Bush family Walker , tired and old, estate.

Good for the Dems who are willing to take it on.

10. Just A Minor Correction To Your Post.
Actually the bushes have done considerable to the town of Kennebunkport. They completely fucked up the traffic in the area, while the locals basically paid no attention to the bush compound.
Many people now frequent K'bunkport just because the chimps family lives there. The "Port" as it is known to those of us who grew up in the area, was a nice little quaint town, not overly snobbish, until bushholes family became known politically. Hell, we never even knew they were there. Now the "Port" has changed to a more elitist downtown and you are absolutely correct when you say that the bushes have never done jack for the community. Nada, squat, zip, jack shit.

BTW: I grew up in Kennebunk, Maine and knew and frequented the "Port" often.

the old battle axe was in Rockland--in the Farnsworth Museum--ugh--just stick your nose up in the air when entering-- I will never contribute another cent to this supercilious, right wing museum.

The old battleaxe was there to read to children and promote her reading schtick.

Bwhahahahhaha-

-her son, the one she raised, is the most famous liar in the world--and the most famous worst president ever who stole an election in a supposed democracy, and the most unread man and stupid man, ever to occupy the White House, or I should say, couped an election when it was obvious he was losing it, and this hoity toity musuem features her, the mother of this comsummate , despicable liar, who is responsible for the murder of at least ten thousand innocent people on his lies, as a mentor to children!!!

It is amazing what some folks will do for "those" people, although they have given nothing to the state. Remember, you have to be careful not to tax her "beautiful" mind.

Silly Note:
Robert E. Lee always referred to the Union as "those" people

14. Repugs are like this. They dont want to see the results of their policies
Edited on Thu Aug-05-04 06:00 PM by w4rma
They dont want to see anyone whom disagrees with the people they follow. They dont want to see the dead American soldiers and dead Iraqis. They want to live in their ivory towers, away from reality. Their leaders scheme to figure out how to get others to do the dirty work that they don't want to see the results of.

I think this is the basis of right-wing philosophy.
