Iraq Soccer Objects to Bush Ad - would be insurgents if not Olympians
Not surprising but Iraqi soccer players have a few things to say to Bush about his latest commercial.

1. Model released?
isn't it a copyright violation to use peoples images/likenesses in ads without signed model releases? Couldn't the Iraqi players, in theory, sue Bush for this?

2. "He can find another way to advertise himself"
They just told Bush to Cheney off.

And that's the nicest thing they say in the article

3. This is what Bush* doesn't understand:
"I want to defend my home. If a stranger invades America and the people resist, does that mean they are terrorists?" Manajid says. "Everyone has been labeled a terrorist. These are all lies. Fallujah people are some of the best people in Iraq."

Anybody think we'll see this on CNN? MSNBC? Major network news?

4. If I were on the Iraqi soccer team...
...I would file a class-action suit against the Bush Campaign demanding compensation for appearing in the ad. I wouldn't want to be pimped by Bushco in that situation either.

6. There goes the admiration of FReepers and the WH invite
DAMN. Their comments are so spot on but they're also funny as hell given that the FReeps have been trying to connect the Iraqi team to GW ever since the Olympics began.

One of the numbnuts on FR even went so far as to say that if the Iraqi team were to win the gold that they should play the US National Anthem as part of the award ceremonies.

Guess they'll be calling the Iraqi team players rag heads and camel jockeys from here on out.

Idiots...

7. That's so strange
ABC "news" last night called the Iraqi soccer team "sentimental favorites".

Weird!

9. Bush in a soccer uni...
I can see it now... Bush gets helicoptered in to the Olympics
when the Iraqi soccer team is celebrating winning gold - with
a huge banner in the background...

"Mission Accomplished"

Bush is wearing a soccer uniform and prancing around showing
off his "bicycle kick"....

12. I'm so glad to read this!
As happy as I am for the Iraqi soccer team, the press has been playing them up as some sort of vindication for the war. Things are certainly not that black and white and I'm glad the Iraqi soccer players are making that distinction!
