Doctor faces murder charges for 'mercy killings'

A former Madison Valley Hospital doctor faces murder and drug charges for allegedly euthanizing an elderly woman with a lethal dose of drugs, Madison County Attorney Bob Zenker confirmed Friday.

Dr. James Bischoff, 46, was charged with deliberate homicide and possession, distribution and fraudulent obtainment of dangerous drugs in Madison County District Court, Zenker said.

The charges are related to the death of a woman in her 80s who died while under Bischoff's care at the hospital last summer, he said.

Morphine is one which will kill those who are already very weak from illness however it is a great pain reliever. If he told the family what he was injecting and the possibility she may die...I just don't see how that is a problem..
