Slow Back-To-School Buying Hits Retailers
Edited on Thu Sep-02-04 08:19 AM by dArKeR
Wal-Mart, the world's biggest retailer, said the slim rise in its August sales mean that its earnings in the current quarter will probably reach only the low end of its forecast, worse than industry analysts had predicted.

The poor retail sales figures -- which came one day after top U.S. automakers posted weaker sales and announced production cuts -- deepened worries about consumer spending and the overall health of the U.S. economy.

The back-to-school selling season usually peaks in August and is considered the second most important period behind the Thanksgiving-to-Christmas holiday sales season.

Analysts had expected a lackluster August performance because last year's sales were inflated by child tax credits, but results from Wal-Mart, Limited Brands Inc. and Costco Wholesale Corp. were even worse than expected.

I would vommit if I watched any part of the repuke convention so I didn't. I was at a friends who is a lifetime repuke but this time he's undecided. He was on MSWHORE and played a clip from Ah-no Nazi's speech. I caught the part about "Girlie Men Economics" which I know is one of the most disgusting things I've ever heard. A sleaze Governor in the most powerful state using Nazi Psychological tacticts. As this technique was explained to me by an Eastern European: The Nazi's didn't just do this to Jews they did it to many groups that didn't fit into their agenda. People with different color skin, different color hair, different religion, birth defects (skin coloring), handicapped, sexual habits... What the Nazi Psychological tacticts did was first to "identity" the segment they hated and wanted to destroy. They would use their media sources. Once this population segment was identified they would turn the "normal" people against that segment. "Oh look, those are the people who limp, (maybe polio), they're no good they don't deserve to live...." The Nazis had a problem with the Jews because they looked like everyone else. So Hitler's GOP Machine ordered Jews to sew a star onto their clothing so that the "normal" people could indentify them and able to turn their hatred onto the "dirty Jews."

Well, your witnessing this Nazi Psychological tactict right here in America at the GOP convention. I heard Franken's guest say Ah-no's speech was great. What a sick nation we've become! Ah-no is marking the Gay people of California and America as 'dirty" "uneducated" " "stupid"... And I heard the entire GOP convention audience errupt with cheer! What a disgraceful disgusting lot of people!

My friend's daughter is just this wonderful little kid entering a new grade. She has a skin color "birth defect" on her arm. The first time I saw it I told her it looks cool. Like a design. Now let's put the two together. Ah-no's and Hitler's Psychological hatred technique is exactly the same. There was a time not long ago, people are still alive when things like this happened, when my friend's little girl would a subject of hatred sponsored by a GOP type political machine. She has a genetic defect and was subject to execution in a concentration camp. In many ways GOP supporters are either brainwashed or what? My friend has listened to Limbutt for 10 years. He stopped listening to him since Limbutt's drug dealing event. He now calls Limbutt a lying hypocrate. My friend has also been out of work for 2 years. He finally got a job at half the pay he used to get doing the same job. With the info I foward him from the DU, I'm pretty sure he's voting for Kerry. He says it will be the first time he's ever voted Democratic.

And you see this on National GOP Convention Prime Time TV with their leaders cheering and American Media Journalists giving rave reviews to a Nazi bigot! There is only one explanation for the GOP Party. They truely are Disiples of Satan! The GOP Party of Hatred!

1. Is anyone here surprised?
I couldn't give a s**t about places like Wal-Mart, but it really pains me to see the places that treat their employees with at least a shred of dignity get shafted at the same time.

I did notice that the stores I've been in haven't been moving a heavy amount of merchandise. I'm used to seeing registers lined up with people whose baskets are full of clothes, notebooks and other school supplies. It has been pretty anemic this time around. I'm sure many parents have kept every usable item from the previous year neatly stored away in the hopes their kids could squeeze another year out of them without the binders falling apart and whatnot.

3. I saw families buying school supplies in July...
Many stores had Early Back-To-School Sales, which I'm sure helped boost the July economic figures.

I also saw many families buying school supplies in The Dollar Store.

5. Bills come due for all those sales-tax holidays
Hmm, goosing retail sales in late July and early August depressed sales for weeks afterward. Who'da thunkit? :silly:

6. Let's see...
I used to make $45K. Now I make a tenth of that in a year. What am I going to spend? Not a whole hell of a lot. If people aren't working in good jobs, they can't buy good things. NOT THAT HARD TO FIGURE OUT, BUSH! Oh wait, that's right, you're an idiot.

7. I've just heard Franken's guest say just about the same thing I tried
to express above. But he did it so much better than me it almost made me cry! It also makes me feel good someone had the exact same thought as I did.

This guest also brought up a point a didn't think of. All of these dirty scum sleave whore lying murderers trying to act like macho men when they are wearing a pound of "Girlie Make-Up" and they dye their hair with "Girlie Hair Dyes!"
