Clinton: Angiogram 'probably saved my life' (Larry King Comments)
CNN) -- Former President Bill Clinton's office announced Friday that he had experienced mild chest pain and would undergo a quadruple-bypass operation. During a panel discussion on CNN's "Larry King Live," Clinton called in to discuss his health.

KING: How are you feeling?

CLINTON: I feel great. And I've enjoyed this program. And Dr. Isom explained why we are going to delay this surgery for a couple of days. But I feel really blessed, you know, because a lot of people who have a heart attack never get any advance warning, as Dr. Frist said, or Senator Frist said.

I've had some difficulty ever since I got out of the White House in getting my distance up in running. And I just had a feeling a couple of days ago I had to have it checked, when I finally got some tightness in my chest. And I hadn't done any exercise. That's the first time that ever happened to me, and we did this angiogram and found out I had blockage that was too significant to open and put a stent in. We had to do the whole surgery. So I'm trying to get my head in the game.

1. I just read that, and I was wondering where Larry King is right now?
It's Midnight, and there is usually a replay, but it's on international news right now.

Anyone know?

3. What the hell is going on at CNN?
Isn't Larry King supposed to repeat at this time? They have CNN International on instead. I don't think that has ever happened. Hmmm.....

4. My dad dated Dr. Isom's ex-wife!
I swear I'm not making this up.

She was nice but on the kooky side. This was about 9 years ago. It was my dad's first significant relationship in many years, and he was deeply fond of her. She ended up breaking it off with him for vague and bizarre reasons. His personal opinion was that she loved his solitary Texan lifestyle at first but he didn't exactly fit in with the country club crowd. She broke his heart.

He didn't speak to her for years, then through a freak Google accident, he found out she had passed away from cancer last year. Weird.

Anyway, it's odd to see someone talk about Dr. Isom! I heard stories, none of them flattering. :P

Best wishes to the Big Dog for a speedy and complete recovery!

5. Why I love Bill Clinton....
Because he's a team player. Who could have asked for a better bounce crusher than an ex-Democrat Prez, a damn good one to boot, making headlines the day after moron was supposed to wallow in his post convention glow. LOL
The man is a damn fine yellow dog Democrat!!!

My hopes go out to the old Big Dog for a happy and healthy recovery :)

6. Old Larry just loves to talk operations, no matter whose.
He's racked up pretty much the same number of heart attacks as Crashcart.

Glad Clinton's problem was diagnosed before he had a heart attack, though. We can't afford to lose him.

9. Adding AP/LAT: Clinton a Little Scared of Bypass Surgery
Clinton a Little Scared of Bypass Surgery

By FRANK ELTMAN, Associated Press Writer

NEW YORK — Bill Clinton said he was "a little scared, but not much" of undergoing heart bypass surgery, but was looking forward to a swift recovery and resuming normal activities such as jogging.

The former president was hospitalized Friday with chest pains and shortness of breath. The upcoming operation could limit his role in campaigning for fellow Democrat John Kerry, who is making a run for the White House.

"Let me just say this, Republicans aren't the only people who want four more years here," Clinton said in a live interview Friday evening on CNN's "Larry King Live."

An angiogram showed that Clinton, who turned 58 two weeks ago, had significant blockage in his heart arteries but did not suffer a heart attack, a doctor who performed the test told The Associated Press....
