13. Also from icasualties.org

"Petty Officer 3rd Class Eric L. Knott, 21, of Grand Island, Neb.,
was killed Sept. 4 when the area in which he was working was struck
by enemy fire. Knott died of shrapnel wounds."

But I thought all you needed was a band-aid and a medal for this
type of wound... 1000's of republicans can't be wrong, can they?

8. I think you are right...
I think all the deaths before Nov 2 will be part of another, already calculated incident.

It will remain 999.

6. Unfortunately this soldier will not be the last
But may he not die in vain. May his death wake a people to the terrible wrong Bush and his neocons have wrought, and may this unfortunate soldiers death hasten Bush from the Presidency.

Rest in Peace brave soldier, rest in peace.

It doesn't require any particular bravery to stand on the floor of the Senate and urge our boys in Vietnam to fight harder, and if this war mushrooms into a major conflict and a hundred thousand young Americans are killed, it won't be U.S. Senators who die. It will be American soldiers who are too young to qualify for the Senate. ~George McGovern

I'm fed up to the ears with old men dreaming up wars for young men to die in. ~George McGovern

19. And what does CNN.com report?
Edited on Tue Sep-07-04 03:23 PM by Dem2theMax
A few hours ago the headline read "13 US Troops killed since Monday."
Then that TOTALLY disappears from the site - no mention at all of troop related deaths, and the headline has to do with the Russian tragedy. I go back a few minutes ago and there is a small storyline to the right of the headline story that says '2 troops killed.'
Not a word on the 1,000th death. :cry:

On edit: Local paper, San Diego Union-Tribune actually had headline about 7 troops dying. First time it's made front page in ages - and this in a military town.

22. Tell me again why I'm voting for pro-war John Kerry?
After he voted for this war?

And said he'd vote for it again?

And he'll take four years to bring the troops home?

Where the hell is Howard Dean when we need him?

Unfortunately John Kerry is no solution to this war problem. But he is the better alternative to Bush's Iraq plan. I wish Kerry would adopt DK's resolution.

Kerry would NOT have done this war the way Bush did, don't drink that Kool-aid.

And Howard Dean is out campaigning for Kerry.

30. We must remember all of them.
For The Fallen
With proud thanksgiving, a mother for her children,
England mourns for her dead across the sea.
Flesh of her flesh they were, spirit of her spirit,
Fallen in the cause of the free.

Solemn the drums thrill; Death august and royal
Sings sorrow up into immortal spheres,
There is music in the midst of desolation
And a glory that shines upon our tears.

They went with songs to the battle, they were young,
Straight of limb, true of eye, steady and aglow.
They were staunch to the end against odds uncounted;
They fell with their faces to the foe.

They shall not grow old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them.

They mingle not with their laughing comrades again;
They sit no more at familiar tables of home;
They have no lot in our labour of the day-time;
They sleep beyond England's foam.

But where our desires are and our hopes profound,
Felt as a well-spring that is hidden from sight,
To the innermost heart of their own land they are known
As the stars are known to the Night;

As the stars that shall be bright when we are dust,
Moving in marches upon the heavenly plain;
As the stars that are starry in the time of our darkness,
To the end, to the end, they remain."
-Laurence Binyon-

The poem was written in 1914, for British soldiers, and its fourth stanza adorns many a soldiers' memorial, but I think the sentiment fits for all those who've died in this war. Not just England, but all countries mourn their dead, it isn't just English soldiers who will no longer mingle with their comrades, but Americans, Italian, and others, as well as Iraqi soldiers and civilians.

34. More Than 1,000 Military Deaths in Iraq - Yahoo rating 2.88
http://news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&u=/ap/20040907/ap_on_re_mi_ea/iraq_040907184258

What kind of mentally sick perverted molestation republicans would rate this story "1"? What kind of flag waving satanistic whore republicans would do this? The kind that paid by Delay, Hastert, Frist, Bush, Cheney... The kind of prostitutes that encompass the swift boat veteran liars? Or in fact anti-Christs placed on Earth by Satan?

Why doesn't the Liberal Press do a story about this fact. Yahoo rating 2.88 on this 1,000 American children slaughtered in Iraq?

36. 1000 dead...
Where now the horse and the rider?

Where is the horn that was blowing?

Where is the helm and the hauberk, and the bright hair flowing?

Where is the hand on the harpstring, and the red fire glowing?

Where is the spring and the harvest and the tall corn growing?

They have passed like rain on the mountain, like a wind in the meadow;

The days have gone down in the West behind the hills into shadow.

Who shall gather the smoke of the dead wood burning,

Or behold the flowing years from the Sea returning? ~ JRR Tolkien
