Kerry, Sharpening Criticism of Bush, Lists Costs of Iraq War (NYT)

Senator John Kerry sharpened his criticism of President Bush's handling of the Iraq war today, saying that because of poor administration planning the war had cost American taxpayers $200 billion that could have been spent on important needs at home.

Paying tribute to the more than 1,000 Americans who have died in Iraq since the conflict began, Mr. Kerry said in Cincinnati that they represented "the most incalculable loss of all."

He did not explicitly suggest that American lives had been lost through misplanning. But he said the president had ignored "the best advice of America's own military." ..

1. Is there a prohibition on mentioning that a thousand and three soldiers
are dead because of Bush' incompetance?

2. How much would John like to spend...to "do it right"?
Would "doing it right" instead of "doing it wrong" cost more money?

6. How much would we have to pay the other countries?
The ones we have now are not doing it for free. Poland got hundreds of millions.

5. if it had been done right
the arms inspectors would have had the opportunity to discover that there were no WMD, and there would have been no invasion. That's what Kerry means when he refers to "doing it right".

7. Well, what does "doing it right" mean NOW?
Would it cost more money? More lives? Kerry's deadline for withdrawal is 2008.

8. what's your point, demoman?
That Kerry's plan sucks? Is that what you're trying to say?

What do you think of Bush's plan?

9. My point? You don't understand my point? Really? Are you sure?
You want me to repeat it? My point is that Kerry's plan sucks big donkey dick.

Now you want me to tell you what I think of Bush's plan? It also sucks big donkey dick.

John and Dubya are a couple of twins on the war. If you vote for Kerry, it has to be for some OTHER reason, such as his position on Social Security.

Got it now?

10. I've got an idea, then
Instead of running around this board posting RNC talking points like "Kerry and Bush are twins on the war", which will accomplish absolutely zero, and in fact may cost Kerry some votes, why don't you post about how much better Kerry's social security plan is next to Dubya's privatization scheme?

11. I don't think that's a good idea.
Someone needs to criticize Kerry's position on the war from the left. Otherwise he will never take a position against the war.

13. You want to know why the left has no political power?
Because all they ever do is piss and moan and whine and shove a knife in the back of the only political entity that will represent them at all - the Democratic Party - except when they're turning that knife on themselves like in the 2000 election - and enabling their real enemies to come to power.

The left... The left has become just as much an enemy to progress as the right.

3. he needed to be doing this a long time ago
people care about their wallets most. and i don't think most americans even REALIZE how much this war is costing/will cost them every single day.

someone needs to tell them.

12. If Bush is a true Christian, how could he have missed this?
Luke 14:28-32

"Suppose one of you wants to build a tower. Will he not first sit down and estimate the cost to see if he has enough money to complete it? For if he lays the foundation and is not able to finish it, everyone who sees it will ridicule him, saying, 'This fellow began to build and was not able to finish.'

**"Or suppose a king is about to go to war against another king. Will he not first sit down and CONSIDER whether he is able with ten thousand men to oppose the one coming against him with twenty thousand? If he is not able, he will send a delegation while the other is still a long way off and will ask for terms of peace."

Considering that Iraq NEVER SENT soldiers our way in the first place....and now they have underestimated the fighting spirit of those being oppressed by American occupation....sounds like Bush never "counted the cost."
