1. Good ol' Reuters
Edited on Sun Aug-24-03 07:47 PM by deneb
I worked as a consultant - for Reuters LLC - at a non-descript (except for satellite dish arrays) Long Island location in the 1990's. Why did they not have a sign w/logo out front? The prospect of terrorists.

Two of their employees were killed in Iraq. Cent-com says the Palestine Hotel was not known as a residence of journalists. And now they say Cameras look like RPG's.

'On or since May 1'...

*sigh*

edit: reuters llc :b

4. More fool me ;)
The latest deaths reported by the U.S. military:

_ A soldier from the 3rd Armored Cavalry Regiment drowned in the Euphrates River Saturday west of Ar Ramadi, Iraq.

_ A 3rd Armored Cavalry Regiment soldier died Saturday in Baghdad from a non-hostile gunshot wound.

Drowning? non-hostile gunshot wound? WT bloody F?

I'll look for Reuters article too.

I didn't know about the death of a Denmark soldier. They sent soldiers in, no doubt, for a just cause for a good ally (US). If Demark feels betrayed - so will all of Scandinavia.

5. Reuters Urges Rumsfeld to Probe Cameraman's Death
Edited on Tue Aug-26-03 09:18 AM by Skinner
It's a bit OT from the AP article. Yet clearly the press is remaining in Iraq.

Wed August 20, 2003 12:23 PM ET
LONDON (Reuters) - The head of Reuters wrote to Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld on Wednesday asking for a fair and comprehensive inquiry into the killing by U.S. troops in Iraq of the news agency's cameraman Mazen Dana.

Dana, who was buried in his home town of Hebron on Wednesday, became the second journalist from the international agency to be killed by U.S. troops in Iraq in four months when a soldier on a tank shot him as he filmed in Baghdad on Sunday.

Reuters Group Plc Chief Executive Tom Glocer joined international media organizations in urging Rumsfeld to investigate the shooting and set in place new practices to avert a recurrence. The U.S. military said the soldier mistook Dana's camera for a grenade launcher.

"Tom Glocer has written to the Secretary of Defense, Donald Rumsfeld, asking for a detailed, fair and comprehensive investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death of Reuters cameraman Mazen Dana," Reuters said in a statement.

Tell that to the dead soldier's parents...
