Seattle radio station says it didn't fire host over Rather comments

SEATTLE A Seattle radio station denies it fired a talk show host for criticizing Dan Rather's handling of disputed memos concerning President Bush's National Guard service.

C-B-S radio affiliate K-I-R-O A-M says it canceled "The Brian Maloney Show" because of scheduling conflicts involving broadcasts of Seattle Seahawks football games.

The station's general manager says Maloney's time slot "would be better filled by other hosts."

KIRO AM radio is one of the best talkshow radio stations out there. Almost all of its talkshow hosts Usually do an excellent job of researching the subjuect they are talking about and can usually field a defensible position. The two worst at doing so are Maloney, and a distant second Lou Pate.

I have heard most of their talk show hosts at one time or another and you can think of Maloney as a Rush Limbaugh clone. Lou Pate is very conservative, but can at least field an inmormed opinion about 50% of the time. Maloney probably got removed because he was making too outlandish claims without backing them up or stating them as facts rather than his personal opinion.

4. I agree - Maloney would give Michael Savage a good name

KIRO has a good variety of hosts, both right and left wing but with Maloney I couldn't turn the station quick enough.
