Steak fry skewers Bush
Des Moines Register has a story on Senator Harkin's annual Steak-fry today.
At U.S. Sen. Tom Harkin's annual steak fry in the Balloon Fields near Indianola, Edwards focused her speech primarily on health care, one of the issues she said must return to the forefront during the final six weeks before the election.

{snip}

"The president has lost all credibility on health care," she said. "He's lost all credibility on jobs, lost all credibility on education."

{snip}

James, of the RNC, said Harkin's comments were off-base.

"Tom Harkin and his friends like Howard Dean, Al Gore, and now Tom Arnold and Sheryl Crow, are the masters of negative, hate-filled campaigning, which Iowans are tired of," he said. "And that's why Iowans will support President Bush."
... masters of negative, hate-filled campaigning? This coming from a republican?? If nothing else, republicans are entertaining.

1. Amazing
I wonder why he considers critical commentary on hate-filled policies, hate filled campaigning.

3. Because there's not supposed to be any critical thinking in the GOP.
There's only supposed to be mindless acceptance, a snap to attention, and a single formation of goosestepping yes-men.

4. I was there
and it was not a negative "hate-filled" event.

Was a lot of fun and everyone was upbeat and really positive about going forward in our country without *Co.

Citing facts - such as health insurance costs rising each and every year under *Co to approx. $10K per family per year - and stating that things have to change so that the average family begins to see out from under the dark cloud that has covered our country's national policies is not negative - it is based on awareness and connecting with people.

When you live in la la land - denying that Iraq is much worse than when *Co did it's unilateral invasion - denying that the economy basically sucks for the average American - denying that jobs have been lost and shipped out of this country at a rate not seen since Herbert Hoover - when these repubs cannot connect with the average person's outlook and all they can do is fear monger and scare tactics - that's negative.

14. Yes however...
When you point out the stupid ideas of Republicans and back them up with facts. Then its hate-filled, negative, attacks. (What else can they say?) When its the other way around and Dems are attacked its just politics as usual.

5. "If you want to go backwards, you put it in 'R,' and if you want to go...
forward, you put it in 'D.' " --Senator Tom Harkin.

That's a great quote!

8. this is a rethug favorite: projection
They do this constantly, and the 'news' media never seems to notice. They are constantly projecting their own behavior on progressives, and the complicit media helps it stick. :-(

10. Republican Twist -the-Truth and Turn-the-Attack-Around back to the Dems.
That is their proven always faithful technique. AND there are enough of us, ignorant enough to buy the TWIST-AND-TURN Republican line.
