Senators Urge Bush to Assess Iraq Policy
Dissent among the ranks?

By WILLIAM C. MANN, Associated Press Writer

WASHINGTON - Senators from both parties urged the Bush administration on Sunday to make a realistic assessment of the situation in Iraq and adjust its policies aimed at pacifying the country. But Bush readied a firm defense of his Iraq policy — and a sharp new attack on rival John Kerry's stance — for a speech Monday.

"The fact is a crisp, sharp analysis of our policies is required. We didn't do that in Vietnam, and we saw 11 years of casualties mount to the point where we finally lost," said Sen. Chuck Hagel, a Vietnam War veteran who is co-chairman of President Bush's re-election committee in Nebraska.

"We can't lose this. It is too important," Hagel, R-Neb., said on CBS' "Face the Nation."

A major problem, said leaders of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, was incompetence by the administration in reconstructing the country's shattered infrastructure.

7. In order to re-assess you would have to asses at least once...
And he didn't do that either!

Nothing shows leadership like remaining blindly stubborn to even your OWN parties suggestions.

4. It is like a very bad dream...
You can see the disaster coming and you start screaming at people to get out of the way, or take cover, or do something, but no one can hear you. They just smile and give you the thumbs up and all the while utter oblivion is baring down on them. It is sickeningly sad and there appears to be nothing that can change it. Even if you believe that the fascists will allow Kerry to win the upcoming elections, Kerry will be saddled with an unwinnable war that will only get worse. The light at the end of the tunnel really is an oncoming train...
