SPRINGFIELD, Ill. - A security guard was shot inside the state Capitol on Monday afternoon by someone who then fled in a vehicle, authorities said. The victim's condition was not immediately released. The building was locked down and an announcement over the intercom ordered everyone to stay in their offices and lock the doors. The order was lifted about an hour later.
Gov. Rod Blagojevich was not in the Capitol at the time, and the Legislature is not in session.
