A little garble goes a long way for Bush as he woos the ladies
Edited on Tue Sep-14-04 09:35 AM by emad aisat sana
Snip from The Times
From Elaine Monaghan in Washington

PRESIDENT BUSH baffled onlookers during a recent campaign stop by declaring that too many gynaecologists were unable to “practise their love with women all across this country.” It was a garbled attempt to woo the female vote by complaining how skyrocketing insurance costs had put doctors out of business. But it appears that his message somehow got through.

Despite Mr Bush’s verbal fluff, recent opinion polls show that as many women plan to vote Republican as Democrat on November 2. Given the Republicans’ entrenched lead among male voters, that is bad news for Mr Kerry.

In the past six elections, women have favoured the Republican candidate in three, two of which had Ronald Reagan on the ballot. The biggest margin was in 1984, Reagan’s second election, when 56 per cent of women gave him their vote compared with 44 per cent for Walter Mondale.

The margin in 1980 was just one per cent in Reagan’s favour over Jimmy Carter (46 to 45 per cent), with the same result in 1988, when George H. W. Bush earned 50 per cent of the female vote and Michael Dukakis 49 per cent.

WISH I had a suitable pic to illustrate Dumbo's gynae dilemma....

1. I don't buy into this ...
No scientific evidence but I'd like to see the nuts-and-bolts specifics of these opinion polls. Remember, depending on WHO does these polls, you can find support for any opinion on any given issue, i.e., to include that the world is flat. :P

There's lies, damn lies, and statistics.

4. Oh please!!!
W isn't wooing this lady and I don't know many who have been won over by his record!

Sadly...or more appropriately, repulsively... I do know some GOP women who think he's the sexiest thing on two legs. BARF!

His record on women's issues is pathetic. I've started a LTTE series outlining how poor he's been and how women have a much better coice, and a champion, in John Kerry!

We have to get women to vote. When women vote, Democrats win! And we all win when that happens.

5. Mangling words in public is a sexy thing??? WTF!?!?!
That's not what I was taught in public schools, or my family. For them, mangling words showed a lack of education.

:grr:

6. Guess us women are suckers for Bush's mangled phrases. Who knew?
Yep, gotta admit it, that line just did it for me. All that talk about love and gynos just made my knees weak.

I love when my doctor practices his *love* on me. I live for it, stirrups and all.

Forget all the bad choices and terrible policy, I'm going with Dubya!!
