Botched GOP Brochure Has Democrats Chuckling - Des Moines Reg.
The mailing praises the Legislative voting record of the first-time candidate.

<snip>

Iowa Democrats are chortling after the Republican Party mailed a bungled campaign brochure to thousands of northeast Iowa voters, touting the voting record of a Senate candidate who's never served in the Legislature.

"As our state senator, Ron Longmuir has made our schools his top priority," says the campaign brochure, sent to about 8,400 registered Republican and independent voters in Senate District 12.

In fact, Longmuir is running for his first Senate term. The Arlington farmer is matched against Democrat Brian Schoenjahn, the mayor of Arlington, in the Nov. 2 election.

"Ron Longmuir takes credit for the Legislature increasing aid to schools, even though he has never actually been in the Legislature," said Gordon Fischer, chairman of the Iowa Democratic Party. "Perhaps Longmuir would also like to take credit for discovering penicillin, winning an Olympic gold medal and writing 'The Star Spangled Banner.' "

7. It's no mistake..they just make shit up.
They don't tell the truth..it's not in their philopsophy. Au contraire ..their's is to cheat, steal, and lie and see what comes up!

But they have the fucking media on their side ..cause they're one of them..so what the hay.

That's why this is one of our best tools to fight against them!..

9. You really do have to laugh with this line
"Perhaps Longmuir would also like to take credit for discovering penicillin, winning an Olympic gold medal and writing 'The Star Spangled Banner.' "

I saw that line and laughed out loud for a few minutes..its just too funny. :D

They have been caught lying AGAIN and its even worse because the person there lying about hasn't spent any time in a position he is running for and they will try and spin there way out if it...how truly sad that what matters to these men and women is winning and not because they want to get in there and help people but because of the power any position will have and they have to have it, no matter the cost...Why can't folks on the right see there party for what it's become, a group of power-crazed individuals who will stop at nothing to take control....its not like they do anything good half the time when they have that power anyway, its like an expensive car...its all about status, nothing more.

Hell, we Democrats like the power too but for the most part we TRY and do the right thing to make this country a better place for all...even for the people that have tried to destroy us, we hope beyond reason that in time they will see this and stop fighting us and try and work together to make it a better country/world for all...but that was and is now more then ever, a pipe dream I guess.

If you can't control your need for power what makes you think you will be in control once you have that power?"

11. Repugs lie and the headline is "Democrats chuckling".
I bet this is what it was like when Herber Hoover was in office ignoring reality before the great stock market crash and the Great Depression.

12. botched?
how do you accidentally call your candidate a state senator?

The article doesn't explain this, nor does the republican...

14. maybe an outright lie, but probably a cut and paste error
I'll bet the party was sending the exact same brochure on behalf of more than one candidate, with just the names and pictures interchanged (the GOP does that in Florida all the time).

It might have been done on purpose, but it makes the guy look like a dope, so I'm guessing not.

26. I've had friends who lost elections because they deliberately ...
... did things, without thinking carefully, that effectively made them look like dopes.

It's really quite common for sleep-deprived cowboys to shoot themselves in the foot, while under the delusion that they're taking a potshot at an enemy ...
