Insurgents Surface in Streets of Samarra

force in the central Iraqi city of Samarra on

briefly entered it in a deal with tribal leaders

Strange how that so-called "most feared terror group" (Jamaat at-Tawhid wa `l-Jihad--though in reality, the most feared "terrorist" organization in Iraq is the US Air Force) can keep staging these photo-ops. It's a fact that since the invasion began, I haven't read a single, even indirect, mention of them attacking a military unit of the US crusaders. It is true that they are something of a dagger in the soft belly of the occupyers, attacking the supply chain and collaborators will the headline-grabbing spectacles to punish the aggressors in general (not directly, however), but how could they command any respect when they haven't buried a single Marine?

They seem opportunist. It was in fact reformed units of the ("old") Iraqi Army that liberated as-Samarra` (now joined by a newly formed local battalion of Jaysh al-Mahdi--Samarra` actually is where Imam al-Mahdi(AJ) had gone into occultation), the native Sufi & Salafi Islamic organizations make up the resistance that has freed Fallujah and Ramadi, Sunni Arab-Nationalist & Shiite forces fight the occupyers in the capital.. These photo-ops have to be staged.
