COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Independent candidate Ralph Nader won't appear on Ohio's presidential ballot because forged signatures on petition forms and on petitions circulated by non-Ohioans left him short of the 5,000 required to qualify, Secretary of State Kenneth Blackwell ruled Tuesday.

Democrats, who blame Nader's presence on the ballot in Florida in 2000 for costing Al Gore the election, said they were happy with Blackwell's ruling. Nader drew about 2.5 percent of the 2000 vote in Ohio, where George W. Bush beat Gore by 3.6 percentage points.

"Therefore, the Boards of Elections will be ordered to remove the Nader/Camejo joint candidacy from the presidential ballot or to otherwise notify voters that a vote cast for the Nader/Camejo candidacy will not be counted," Blackwell said in a release.

8. Amusing note I heard on WTAM-1100 Cleveland

(a Clear Channel station) - in their 5pm news blip.

Clear channel poll (now how could that ever be biased?) had the basic results:

Bush - 50 percent
Kerry - 44 percent
undecided - 6 percent

(unscientific, I'd say; remember, this is a CLEAR CHANNEL poll! You would think - Bush - 90, Kerry -.02, undecided - 9.8).

THen they said "Northeast Ohio", different, Kerry ahead.

18. It's not the Nader supporters who f'd it up.

It's the Bush* supporters who gleefully (and illegally) filled the petitions with names of dead people and shit they wrote down off mailboxes who f'd it up. If Nader had played it honest and hadn't asked (or at least, allowed) the Republicans to collect and submit bogus signatures for him, he might have gotten on the ballot.

Why is he saying Nader votes will not be counted? Since you can write in any candidate of your choice, even if the candidate is not on the ballot, and the votes are still supposed to be counted. Something is very fishy there.

AND, if the voters are not adequately notified; the responsibility is in Ohio's Boards of Elections! Would any good patriotic "Buckeye" supporting the US Constitution really accept this negation of their vote due to a balloting system, that certainly, has been long cited as being below any standard that our Founding Fathers would have imagined?
