Pentagon Tests Security Blimp Over Capitol
The Guardian
Wednesday September 29, 2004 1:31 PM

WASHINGTON (AP) - Here's a head-turner for a security-nervous city: A large white object was spotted in the skies above the nation's capital in the predawn hours Wednesday.

Pentagon police said the Defense Department is testing a security blimp - fully equipped with surveillance cameras. The white blimp was spotted early Wednesday morning hovering at various times over the Pentagon and the U.S. Capitol.

The device is expected to remain in the skies until tomorrow, authorities said.

3. Oh, no! It's the Deathblimp!
and here I am just a half hour from Washington DC.

Seriously, this could be used as to spy on anyone protesting the B* regime. I hope Kerry pulls its plug when he is sworn in.

Oh dear, i've split a gut laughing.. :-)

Ain't it sickly coincidental the nazi infatuation with dirigibles
and the new deathblimp.

4. So that's what that damn thing is
Saw it from the van on my way to work this morning. Figures that I'd only find out about it on DU, and from a British newspaper, not from local news.

6. My fiance and I saw it when we woke up this morning......
She pointed to the window and said, "Look, a UFO!"

We watched it for awhile, then walked the dogs, and saw it again when we reached the end of the block where the view was no longer obstructed by rowhouses.

Pretty cool looking, but I don't know what else to make of it. What exactly, does a "security blimp" do?

10. Finally Rush Limbaugh can play a vital role in protecting the U.S.
Security Blimp - this gives him a chance to make up for his unfortunate absence during Viet Nam.
