Kurdish deputy security chief killed by Ansar al-Islam
SULAIMANIYA, Iraq (AFP) - The deputy security chief for the Kurds in the northeastern Iraqi province of Sulaimaniya has been shot dead by Islamic militant group Ansar al-Islam, linked by Washington to al-Qaeda, an official from the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan told AFP.

Sulaimaniya's deputy security chief, Hama Hussein, was shot dead Wednesday afternoon by four Ansar members, as he approached the house where his forces had them surrounded in the middle of the city, the official said.

The militants had agreed to negotiate with Hussein and, as he walked towards the agreed meeting point, he was hit by bullets, the official said.

This and the bombing in Najaf! Something's happening and it isn't peace and prosperity for the Iraqis.

On edit...I see this was on Wednesday.

I wonder if there's any significance in releasing the news to coincide with the car bombing?

2. Why hasn't this been in the news?
Oh, either I just missed it or the American "news" orgs. are at their sterling best.

5. No links ever proven between al-Qaeda and Ansar - al - Islam.
This report relies on "facts not in evidence."

The Kurds got us to bomb the Ansar-al-Islam "training camp," which proved to be nothing but a dirt-poor village.

So we should believe what we are told. Never mind that one Kurdish group is against another Kurdish group.

"We told you who are the "good guys" and who are the "bad guys" and by God, if you don't believe us, you're a terrorist!!"

6. Do notice that the report qualifies the al-Quaeda link by stating
the link is "by Washington."

Reporters are being careful, rumours are that US has opened the season on in-country reporters.

Peace
