Nukes will ‘likely’ be found: Ashcroft

Nukes will ‘likely’ be found: Ashcroft

OSLO: US Attorney General John Ashcroft said on Friday it was likely that components of Saddam Hussein’s alleged nuclear weapons programme would eventually be found in Iraq.

<snip>
“There have been in the past efforts to develop nuclear weapons and there is a likelihood that components of that kind of development will be detected,” he replied when asked if he believed that weapons of mass destruction would be uncovered in Iraq.

<snip>
The US official said Washington was justified in its decision to go to war on Iraq.

“In a setting where individuals who are developing weapons of mass destruction and the capacity to inflict carnage on the human race, if you don’t stop those individuals before it’s too late you can only stop them when it’s too late,” he said.

1. Ashcroft is a Nut.
Anybody who gives him any more foresight than that is doing a disservice to thinking Americans.

2. Well, there are still 10,000 rosebushes left
For Ashcroft to dig under! I'm sure one of those crafty Iraqi scientists just snuck a 1-ton warhead out of his lab under his labcoat and buried it in his backyard. Sneaky Iraqis, can't trust any of them, ya know.

3. No duh.
Saddam Hussein had a dormant nuclear weapons program. We've already found rusting equipment in the bushes of people's yards.

I'm sure they'll find a can opener in Iraq, also. That finding will be about as relevent to the claim that the man was going to have a bomb in the near future.

4. Well, shit, if they find a can opener,
then this whole war was justified. There's your "smoking gun" right there. :)

5. Now, I realize it's irrelevant since the weapons don't exist, but.....
...since WHEN is it the United States Attorney General's fucking business if, when, where, or why any weapons are in another country??

Asscrotch has no jurisdiction in Iraq.

Could you imagine the Repuke reaction if Janet Reno had speculated on Serbian weapons stashes??

9. Maybe Colin Powell will be commenting on the Patriot act soon?
Or rumsfield will be providing us his insight on deregulation of the electrical power generation.

Really, John, things not busy enough at the DOJ, that you have time to provide your commentary on Iraq WMD? And how would you know, anyway?

Did Bush let you in on the September plan?

17. Good point. But does the Crisco Christian have any jurisdiction over
God's instructions to Whistle Ass to go after Saddam? I think it is possible that those instructions from God violated the Patriot Act.

20. Must have been Rover
who put AssCrack up to speaking out on WMD while Georgie was otherwise preoccupied with clearing brush. Perhaps, Rover sees AssCrack as a person who is held in high regard by the American public. Or, perhaps Johnnie just holds himself in that regard and believes his opinions are from god's lips (does god have lips??) to his ear; what he says shall also come to pass for he is the great angel of the omniscient, omnipresent DOJ.

Bite me, AssCrack, you fool.

7. The claim was that they would be ready to nuke other countries
in 6 months if we didn't invade immediately. And the Brits claimed they would use WMD on 45 minutes notice.

10. of course they will be "found"
whistleass has had all summer to do his planting.. autumn is around the corner and it'll be time for the "harvest"

Blair is taking big hits in the UK, there is growing concern/questioning of the existence of WMD's and threats here in the states by regular 'muericans, whistleass's numbers are dropping, the vague non-specific terra-lerts are no longer working well enough to scare people

with the Iraq and Afghanistan occupations still going on, the whistleass can't roll out a new war unless he can "prove" that the Iraq invasion was valid

if he wants a new war he will have to "prove" that Iraq's WMD were moved out of Iraq and they are an immediate threat - even then I think it will be a hard sell

12. What a joyous Christmas it will be
The White House & number 10 will drink hot toddies while Ashcroft is drunk with power after the U.S. finds the
WMD stash.

What a fucking joke!

11. What He Really Meant to Say is...
...that Karl Rove will see to it that someone plants that evidence where it can found. Once you go to the step of removing thousand of American citizens from the voting rolls of a state that your brother controls, in order to steal an election, what's planting a little evidence. I wonder if Mark Furman has gone to work for the Attorney General?

13. Uranium/ platinium enrichment plants are sprawling, 20 acre sites
And if Rummy's 1500 man "Ramparts Squad" hasn't found one of those by now, then Saddam had no active nuclear program.

19. most Americans don't know that.
If Bush told them it could be made in a house they would not know any different. most Americans get their information from TV and radio news. That's sad.

WHY is the "Nation's Top Cop"(gag)commenting on a military matter?

Maybe he should spend less time "looking into" the BFEE farce and actually FIND the Xian RW nutcase that sent the spores to the Senate and all those women's clinics?

...as per Greg Palast. When Iraq couldn't make it work, the Saudis then gave the $$$ to Pakistan.

(Was away on vacation for 2 weeks, so just getting back to the board. Watching this government is like tuning in to a soap opera - nothing much changes!)

27. Here comes the new product rollout!
People need to start yelling at the tops of the collective lungs that this is about to happen. Since President Crook is back from his 5-week drinking binge, it's time for that surprise find of WMD that we all know is coming. If enough people are creating noise about them planting them before they announce it, though, it may get some in the public to question it when it happens.

want him in Missouri and we don't want him in DC. We should send him to Iraq to find those Iraqi "nuke" components.
