Chief British Scientist Says Act Now on Carbon Dioxide
Another story for the US media to ignore.

LONDON (Reuters) - The world faces a surge in extreme weather events because of global warming and governments must act immediately to avert disaster, Britain's chief scientist said on Tuesday.

"Already we are witnessing increased storms at sea and floods in our cities," David King said. "Global warming will increase the level and frequency at which we experience heightened weather patterns.

"Action is affordable. Inaction is not," he told the third Greenpeace Business Lecture in central London.

King said levels of the main greenhouse gas, carbon dioxide, were rising steadily due primarily to the burning of fossil fuels at an unprecedented rate.

2. Perhaps David King
should ask Tony to toughen up the environmental regulations on new build in the UK. We're still miles behind continental Europe in requiring tougher standards of insulation, recyclability etc, and there's no sign of a requirement to incorporate solar panels and such like on the horizon.

Of course, that would require Tony to alienate his chums in the building industry by forcing them to act responsibly. Not New Labour at all.

3. A couple more years of extreme weather and
people may start to take this seriously.

Florida was hit by 4 major hurricanes. Japan was hit by 9, I think. China was hit, too.

Here in Kansas City we normally have 9 tornadoes in our area. We had 247. - I might be off on my numbers because I am just working from memory here - but we had way more than usual.

The West has been in drought for year's now.

And all the Ice in the glaciers world wide is melting.

And the President is out helping those who pollute.

Ole, "What, me worry?"

4. speaking of the US media ignoring stories . . .
it occurs to me that there's a great market niche just waiting for a news organization or network to jump into, i.e. all the stories that the mainstream media and press are NOT covering . . . "All the News You Aren't Getting" . . . or something like that . . .
