Washington Mayor Questions Senate Office Closure
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Washington Mayor Anthony Williams on Wednesday criticized a U.S. senator who closed his office for security concerns and insisted the city was safe.

"I'm literally scratching my head, trying to figure out what frequency he's on," Williams said about Minnesota Democrat Mark Dayton's decision to close his office at the U.S. Capitol complex until after the Nov. 2 elections.

"This is a safe city," he said. "I just think this is a very strange aberration."

Washington has been under a heightened terror alert level since August, when federal officials said it had reports that al Qaeda was targeting the World Bank and International Monetary Fund buildings.
