Terror Tape Shakes Up Bush-Kerry Campaign ( Condi is back to work??)
Edited on Sat Oct-30-04 10:02 AM by maddezmom
COLUMBUS, Ohio - President Bush (news - web sites) on Saturday directed his national security aides to take the necessary steps in response to Osama bin Laden (news - web sites)'s sudden reappearance on tape, a video that sent the Republican and Democratic Sen. John Kerry (news - web sites) into a sharp final round of argument over which one can defeat terrorism.

As the pair prepared swings through Midwest battlegrounds, the U.S. military in Iraq (news - web sites) announced that eight Marines were killed and nine others wounded in action Saturday in Anbar province in west of Baghdad. The statement gave no details of how they were killed or injured.

Bush held a videoconference call with national security adviser Condoleezza Rice (news - web sites) and the heads of the CIA (news - web sites), FBI (news - web sites) and departments of Justice and Homeland Security. White House spokesman Scott McClellan said the president "directed them to make sure all action is being taken in regards to the tape."

McClellan did not say what steps were being taken or contemplated.

He played down the possibility of the administration raising the threat advisory level, currently at "yellow," or elevated, for most of the country. He did rule out Bush curtailing his campaign schedule to deal with the new video message.

1. He did rule out Bush curtailing his campaign schedule
well, there it is then, is it not?

For all the hoopla, the chimp won't stop campaigning. That says that a) the tape is a fake; or, b) the chimp doesn't give a rats ass about the 'murikan (in)security.

5. Yeah, it's more important to campaign than to address
a potential security problem for the U.S.

By now I should be immune to the total disregard the current residents of the WH have for the U.S. population. But I'm not. It's still amazing to me.

21. It is amazing.
When you start to analyze who he is, and what he's supposed to do, it becomes ludicrous. I think the most telling moment for me was when a reporter asked him about 6 months ago how Bush's odds of winning were looking.

Bush answered, "I'll win, make no mistake about that". The reporter thought it was curious. Bush didn't say, "if the American people wish it", or "if I can serve 4 more years,".

No, instead it was "I'll win". Kinda tells you the whole story.

he said it as though he had been assured his win was in the bag. And why not? That incompetent bastard has failed over and over, but someone always rescues him.

6. But Condi's busy campaigning! Tell OBL she'll get back with him
later. Maybe they'll "do lunch" and discuss the REAL threat to America: Iraq and missiles from Russia!

Homeland Security disavows PR document touting successes
http://www.boston.com/news/nation/articles/2004/10/29/homeland_security_disavows_pr_document_touting_successes/?rss_id=Boston%20Globe%20--%20National%20News

Focus on Homeland Security
Wednesday, October 27, 2004

Homeland Security Secretary Tom Ridge contends politics have nothing to do with his frequent visits to 17 states hotly contested in the presidential race. Yet, since Democratic nominee John Kerry clinched his party's nomination in March, three-fifths of public events attended by Ridge outside Washington have been in "swing" states.
Ridge claims he's not stumping for his boss, but the road trips strongly suggest just the opposite. One example: Ridge or his staff have made two trips to New Jersey, which lost 700 citizens on 9/11 and had buildings in North Jersey possibly targeted for another attack. Yet, Homeland Security officials made four visits in the same period to the battleground state of Iowa.

With most experts expecting another attack on U.S. soil, Ridge cannot afford to be distracted by the presidential race. The race Americans want him to win is against the terrorists, not Kerry.

Ridge had pledged that his office would not be side-tracked by politics. He ought to keep that promise. The nation's security depends on it.

9. Leadership or a whiny 'DO something' plea?
Scott McClellan said the president "directed them to make sure all action is being taken in regards to the tape".

"directed them to make sure all action is being taken in regards to the tape"?!? Like what, Mr. pResident? What does the leader of the free world want done, pray tell. And damned ideas, you stupid fool?

How about we just pretend your people didn't call off the rangers who had him pinned down in Tora Bora? How about we just pretend you guys didn't tell our good friends, the Pakistanis they could go in and round him up? How about we pretend our allies didn't let him escape? How about we do what you said you did about him in that press conference, and just not think about him very much?

Pretending works for George W. Too bad about all the rest of us left to deal with reality and the chaotic wake of the "Bring 'em on!" foreign policy disasters.

14. Yeah, directing them to do what?
Probably more like: begged them to do something, no idea what but something.

Just like begging & pleading is NOT foreplay, neither is it leadership.

The Gepetto Group can't tolerate Bushocchio interfering from the Offal Orifice - and have had him vacationing and campaigning for four years. Never before has any (so-called) pResident done so little actual work.

might possibly be wrong. New news alerts considering raising the level. This might be the only way the Repubs can squash that turnout.

17. Maybe he'll react to OBL by speeding up the ...
attack on Falluja. That would be in character. Of course, if he did, scores of U.S. deaths right before Election Day might not be the best argument for the Bushista strategy. But then, they live in a fantasy world -- one where the next initiative is going to work perfectly, without a hitch. An it's American kids who pay the price.

We can only hope that our efforts mean that the Bushistas start to pay the price come Tuesday.

18. Look at the theater put up by bush and his goons following the OBL tape.
Any bets that the fix for the tape was made between Poppy Bush (who is famous for his connections to the Bin Laden family) and Bin Laden himself?

Bush did not go after Bin Laden.
9/11 benefited Bush. It gave him fertile soil from which to invade Iraq and bring down our civil liberties.
Whose poll numbers go up when talk of defense against a terror attack is floated around?

The Bushes are a twisted, sinister bunch. I think them capable of having protected Bin Laden, and of fixing it so that the tape can come out now (a repeat of Poppy's favored October Surprises plays upon elections).

Conspiracy theory? Well ... why not. How many times have the Bushes plotted against America and against We The People?

23. ROTFLMAO
When I saw that "Condi back to work?", I about rolled!!!!!!!!!!!!

The fact that she's not in Washington a week before the election, out friggin campaigning for the Chimpy tells you she doesn't do FRIGGIN thing for this country except give black ladies looking to make an impact, a BAD NAME!!!!!!!! She is retarded. I watched her talking to the 9/11 panel, and her rude "do you know who I am?" behavior was over the top.

GOOD GOD HELP US! Our NSA is out campaigning for her boss's re-election during a war and our top enemy is still alive.

RETARDED, just RETARDED!

I'm going to see Barry Manilow tonight in Tampa, aren't I fortunate?
Something to take my mind off this frustrating campaign.
