Pat Robertson Slams Bush On Liberia
http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2003/07/11/national/main562915.shtml

(CBS) Religious broadcaster Pat Robertson accused President Bush of “undermining a Christian, Baptist president to bring in Muslim rebels” by asking Liberian President Charles Taylor, recently indicted for war crimes, to step down.

“How dare the president of the United States say to the duly elected president of another country, 'You've got to step down,'" Robertson said Monday on “The 700 Club,” broadcast from his Christian Broadcasting Network.

“It's one thing to say, we will give you money if you step down and we will give you troops if you step down, but just to order him to step down? He doesn't work for us.”

Robertson, a Bush supporter who has financial interests in Liberia, said he believes the State Department has “mismanaged the situation in nation after nation after nation” in Africa.

“So we're undermining a Christian, Baptist president to bring in Muslim rebels to take over the country,” he said in the broadcast.

Pat Robertson Engages in Illegal Mining Operation in Liberia
By Abraham M. Williams

Over the past few months, columnist Colbert King of the Washington Post had used his columns to expose Pat Robertson's dealing in Liberia. In a series of articles King had sketched out Robertson's profit motives, and his quest to strike it in rich gold in Liberia, which has overriden any morality of doing business with one of Africa's most notorious tyrants.
What Colbert King has been writing about is Pat Robertson's desire to make profits at the expense of all else which has become a study in contrasts of a self-professed Christian, who has piously mouthed indignation at others for their alleged immoral conduct.
Rev. Robertson is not troubled or concerned at all about doing business with President Taylor, a man widely known for "fueling the violence in Sierra Leone" and "actively supporting the RUF at all levels." Taylor is a known menace to his people as well as a danger to his neighbors in the West African sub-region. The heinous atrocities he inflicted upon the Liberian people are well documented, yet Pat Robertson claims to "have no knowledge of the activities in Liberia during its bitter civil war."

9. Pat, the moral relativist
According to Robertson, Hussein was a dictator who had to be overthrown. Taylor is a 'duly elected president' who deserves the rights of other leaders of sovereign states.

Why the difference? Pat's economic and evangelical interests. Taylor is a "Christian, Baptist" president and Hussein is a Muslim. Also, Pat has economic interests in Liberia.

Pat's even willing to alter his views on the separation of church and state when it suits him: http://www.au.org/press/pr030318.htm .

Since this is by definition moral relativism, and Pat preaches that moral relativism is bad and evil, I'm sure Pat's very, very disappointed in himself for his "anti-Christian" stances.

Oh, it's rank hypocrisy coming from the leader of the Christian Broadcasting Network.

Hey Pat, why don't you do Christendom a favor, fold up your tent, and just go away?

15. Oh you don't understand... it's for the people!!!
"Robertson told The Washington Post in an interview published Thursday that he has “written off in my own mind” an $8 million investment in a Liberian gold mining venture he made four years ago, under an agreement with Taylor's government...

He said his investment was intended to help pay for humanitarian and evangelical efforts in Liberia."

ROTFL WHAT is this man doing with EIGHT MILLION DOLLARS in the first place???? Where's his Christian charity? How can people continue to be so blind with these kinds of outrageous stories coming out of the woodwork?

16. Let Pat babble on (babylon?) with this....
...yes it's overwhelming hypocrisy, but if it turns the Unchristian Coalition against Junior, there's one more nail in the coffin of this Fraudministration.

And besides, since I'll be a 700 Club member for another day or two, I can't be too hard on "our leader", right?
