U.N. Warns of Fallujah Attack Consequences
http://www.lasvegassun.com/sunbin/stories/w-me/2004/nov/05/110508785.html

U.N. Secretary-General Kofi Annan warned U.S.-led coalition forces in Iraq that new military campaigns in Fallujah and other insurgent strongholds could jeopardize upcoming elections, according to a letter obtained Friday.

Interim Iraqi Prime Minister Ayad Allawi responded sharply, calling Annan's note "confused" and saying, "If he can stop the insurgents from inflicting damage and killing the Iraqis, then he's welcome, we will do whatever he wants."

"It was a confused message that I got from him. It's not clear to me and we are now seeking clarification," Allawi said in an interview on British Broadcasting Corp. television. "We don't know exactly what his intentions are. We don't know whom he means. It's a very unclear message.

In the letter, dated Oct. 31, Annan told American, British and Iraqi leaders that the United Nations wants to help prepare for the elections, scheduled for the end of January, but fears a rise in violence could disrupt the process.

2. Well we will not have any two men holding hands any how.
If their is anything I hate is men holding hands. Dead children and women and old men I will not think about. My ethics are just to high for such stuff.

4. All playing into Allawi's hands
He and the neo-Ba'ath aren't too concerned about elections. Keeping the Shi'a majority out of power suits them just fine.

5. I guess the UN didnt get the mandate
the gop has spent the last 2 years stomping on them and linking Kerry to them and their wordly ways. I guess it's time to tell the un that 51% of americans think they are commies.

7. They will have the latest technology, no doubt.
Iraqis won't take it seriously, though.

8. Annan is nothing but a pussy footing, boot licker!
If he really had any class he would call an emergency session of the security council and start a big ruckus.

He is afraid the chimp will get him kicked out of a job if he gets too unruly. And where is France, Germany, China, and all the rest while this bullshit goes on? They are just as guilty of cynical appeasement as Annan is.
