4. But this is only a Minor Operation, right? |
|
I mean, it can't be a Major Operation, can it? 'cause they finished, right? Like, a year and a half ago. So those soldiers must've all committed suicide or something. That must be it.

So, they had it coming.
The dead American soliders?
We're referring to them as "successful participants in a catastrophic success."
(You know, I've decided that this whole fucking "administration" needs to be drawn and quartered, if only for what they're trying to do to my beloved mother tongue.)

Man is the only animal that deals in that atrocity of atrocities, War. He is the only one that gathers his brethren about him and goes forth in cold blood and calm pulse to exterminate his kind. He is the only animal that for sordid wages will march out...and help to slaughter strangers of his own species who have done him no harm and with whom he has no quarrel. ..And in the intervals between campaigns he washes the blood off his hands and works for "the universal brotherhood of man"--with his mouth. You helped the Worthless Little Fuck get his war on. You were all suffering from slippery-seat at the anchor desks while MARCH TO WAR splashed across our thoughtscreens in letters twelve feet tall.
You never once said "Wait. Where's the proof?" You wanted this war as much as bu$h did! The blood of those 16 GIs (and 1133) more is on your soft white hands.
BURN, MOTHERFUCKERS.

How many are truely killed, how many are casualties of the war and how many people won't be able to face civilian life again because of living and fighting on the edge.
These same adrenaline warriors will come home and not know what to do with there built up anger towards fellow humans.
Look forward to more of the same - spouse abuse, suicides, rampages, anger fits, depression and all the other symptons of war.
God bless 'em all. I just want the soldiers home.

If gays were getting married, and our troops weren't murdering innocent Iraqis (and getting murdered in return), what the HELL kind of world would THAT be?
Not a world I want for my children, believe me.
No bloodshed?
No maiming?
No imperialistic warmongering?
Gays being treated like :::: gasp :::: human beings with RIGHTS LIKE MINE?
Thank Sweet Jesus, Our Lord, Savior, and Personal Best Friend/Ballboy/Baggage Handler that we're delivered from any of that nonsense.

Jesus is too busy helping baseball pitchers and football quarterbacks to worry his beautiful mind with things like war in Iraq and genocide in the Sudan. Since gays are shunned by both the military and professional sports, Extreme Jesus says they gotta go.

For the most part, they are just young kids following orders.
You drop kids into a life or death situation with orders to kill and they become monsters just to survive, that's part of the tragedy.

I'm not saying it's right, I'm just pointing out that they have a much different perspective.

War is an ugly, vile thing and Iraq is a disater that will haunt us for years.
But, these are 20-something year old kids, many of them come out of the lower tiers of our society, and most of them probably don't want to be there.
They didn't decide to go there, they were ordered to go, and now they are in a life and death situation.
I've never been to war and I've never been put in a him-or-me situation, so I try to be careful before I throw the self-rightous BS around.

29. GOOOOD MORNING, VIETNAM!!! |
|
Yuk. It's deja-vu all over again. Back in those days, on the evening news they'd list the names of the soldiers killed that day. During the worst of it, two or three hundred would be killed every week. Is it coming to that? And in 20 years will there be another big black Wall for them in D.C.? At least then, for all the criticism of the war, the government acknowledged that people died, and allowed the coffins to be photographed. This could be even worse than Vietnam.

33. Did anyone read the story? NOT 16 "today"... |
|
Edited on Tue Nov-09-04 04:41 PM by chiburb
On edit, snip added: A total of 16 Americans have been killed in the past two days across Iraq - including three killed in Fallujah combat on Tuesday, two killed by mortars near the northern city of Mosul and 11 others who died Monday, most of them as guerrillas launched a wave of attacks in Baghdad and southwest of Fallujah.
The 11 deaths were the highest one-day U.S. toll in more than six months.
I don't mean to pick nits here, and I'm in total agreement with most of the posts here. That said:
The actual headline does NOT say 'today'. The story says 11 killed yesterday. Can't we try to keep LBN a place for sharing NEWS? I mean, the OP would be fine for GD... but shouldn't LBN stay "accurate"?

That is NOT what the article says, nor is it the actual headline. It is actually a duplication of other Fallujah stories already in LBN.
