You only WISH it were a new video game...

"I want to be in that rumba,
When the saints go over there!
Over there! Oh, over there!..."
--Homer Jay

APOLOGIES: Jeez, this happened YESTERDAY, not today--so it's not latest-breaking news... But why am I only finding out about it now?

2. Haven't the LAPD been using tanks since the '80s?
I thought they started that 20 years ago, so they could smash right in to suspected drug dealers' houses. Maybe that was somewhere else?

8. Since the MLK Riots

I remember the snipers from the National Guard, with guns pointing , on the roof of the Crenshaw Shopping Mall in the Black neighborhood.

I remember the playground of the near by Jr. High used as a parking lot for the army tanks.

I remember the tanks coming down the streets.

It was not a happy time.

This gives me a scary feeling!

I still live in Los Angeles.

I read in another thread that someone talked to the drivers of the tanks.

The driver supposedly said that they were coming into town for a meet up of some kind and "got lost." Said it was all totally innocent.

Right!

10. I lived VERY close to the MLK riots in Chicago.
On the West Side. I was 9 y.o.
There were National Guardsmen patrolling the neighborhood.

4. I'll just bet Arnold emptied his garage for this little parade.
He wouldn't hesitate to flex a 'little muscle' if he thought it would help his 'career'.

11. One of Arnie's EIGHT Hummers?
And folks bitched about Teresa's Suburban and JFK's Dodge pickup on the farm and his new Chrysler 300.

13. thank you for pointing that out
I was going to do so myself. We need LESS hysteria around here, not more... although, to be fair, it was a very creepy thing to see, especially now.

14. That's SOME Co-winky-dink
(1) Anti-war protest
(2) just happens to be buzzed TWICE
(3) by an armored military vehicle
(4) in LOS freaking ANGELES
(5) that claims to be lost and looking for directions
(6) from an ANTI-WAR PROTEST
(7) then parks across the street from the protestors
(8) and watches them.

Maybe it's all innocent--maybe fate's been watching too many sitcoms. And maybe it's not.

I'm going to stop supporting the troops the second they fire on us.

15. My wife has lived in LA for 40 years and has never seen
anything like this. They just got lost driving around and
just happened to end up where a group was protesting
awol's illegal war? This "coincidence" strains the
imagination. Remember Johnny Carson, they should take
Sunset to the 405, the 405 to the 101, the 101 to the 34,
etc.
