George Bush: 30 January 2002, State of the Union address: "This is a regime that has something to hide from the civilized world. States like these, and their terrorist allies, constitute an axis of evil, arming to threaten the peace of the world."

George Bush: 27 February 2002: 'In Iraq a dictator is building and hiding weapons that could enable him to dominate the Middle East and intimidate the civilized world, and we will not allow it.'

Jack Straw: 14 September 2002: 'No country has deceived every other country in the world as systematically and cynically as Iraq.'

Tony Blair, foreword to the dossier of 24 September 2002: "What I believe the assessed intelligence has established beyond doubt is that Saddam has continued to produce chemical and biological weapons, that he continues in his efforts to develop nuclear weapons".

of the lies and distortions and false assertions and all the other euphemisms for lying and cheating. This is a keeper. Thanks.

3. Ya know.....
Normally, one would look at this littany of crap put forth by this administration and their supporters and say they are toast. But I have never seen such indifference by an adminstration to credibility and their skill at duping people.

5. I don't think it's Bush's skill
that has protected him; I think it's the media.

We all know how biased Fox is and how so many pundits are so subservient to Bush.

But even the tabloids focus on Bush's enemies. I've seen hideously ugly photos of Hillary, Bill, Chelsea Clinton; Barbra Streisand; Julia Roberts; Martha Stewart. Once I saw a picture of Jimmy Carter in a boat with several babes. (I'm sure that was a doctored photo because President Carter looked as though he were teaching Sunday School in Plains.)
