Recruiters finding it tougher to get into some NH schools (to give ASVAB)
Edited on Sun Feb-27-05 07:35 AM by NewHampshireDem
Interesting article in the NH Union (mis)Leader about ASVAB testing--though the headline is terribly, well, misleading.

There is no level to which some people will sink, however. Check this out ... rather than blaming asshat * and his illegal, unjust, indefensible war for causing schools to drop the ASVAB, well, you can read for yourself:

“It’s much more difficult right now to get into schools,” said Petty Officer Jason Lowe, ASVAB testing coordinator at the Military Entrance Processing Station in Boston, which handles enlistment processing for most of New Hampshire from the Lakes Region south, as well as Rhode Island and portions of the Bay State.

“People aren’t happy, I guess . . . They just don’t like the military in there right now with everything going on in the world. It makes it real tough.”

<snip>

“Honestly, I think it’s because it’s a John Kerry area,” he said. “This place is very highly liberal and they don’t like the military.”

Wny not just blame Clinton? Did this guy lose his script?

1. New Hampshire? Liberal?
Unless there's been a complete change of population since I escaped in 1996, New Hampshire is not, was not, and probably never will be "liberal". The birthplace of the John Birch Society, home of the former governor Meldrim Thomson, truly believes in their state motto: "Live Free or Die". There's a lot of folks dying in NH, thanks to an economy that's barely skin deep when things are going well. Perhaps they just would rather die there at home than in Iraq.
