Schiavo support founders under false witnessing
http://www.post-gazette.com/pg/05088/479127.stm

By Tony Norman

Whatever happened to that commandment about bearing false witness against one's neighbor? It may not be as sexy as the ones forbidding murder and adultery, but the last time I looked, it was still on the books. It's one of those pesky "jots and tittles" Jesus spoke of when he warned the religious leaders of his day that heaven and earth would pass away before any of the commandments did.

It makes you wonder if the folks manning the vigils for Terri Schiavo while simultaneously cursing Michael Schiavo as the second coming of Scott Peterson have any concept of how their calumnies and slander violate the integrity of their "pro-life" witness.

Given the righteous determination with which some have leapt over one commandment to honor another, there doesn't seem to be a lot of concern for embodying a Christ-like response to the agony of both families embroiled in this drama.

<snip>

Quack psychiatrists, dubious religious authorities, politicians and radio talk show hosts who have never met Mr. Schiavo insist he's Satan incarnate. Nothing else explains why a "loving husband" would starve an "angel" to death and single-handedly usher in a culture of death in America.

1. well wait a minute-- on the other hand...
...if you think about it this whole "culture of death" thing sounds pretty cool. Maybe we could even rehabilitate Dr. No, and Vlad and the Pointed Sisters. I mean CULTURE OF DEATH! CULTURE OF DEATH! I gotta have a Pantera CD around here somewhere....

2. "who have never met Mr. Schiavo insist he's Satan incarnate"
DUers are doing the same thing with the Schindlers...I saw several beauts today and the last few days such as: The Schindler family is pure evil, Bob Schindler is the devil incarnate, etc. The hatred is just oozing out of the keyboards...on both sides. Also on DU there are more than a few posters who are on some kind of death watch glee that I can only term sociopathic. Truly some sick postings. Haven't you noticed?

"...their calumnies and slander" should be changed to: the calumnies and slander of both the right and left wings....

If the right wing looks at the DU board, I can't see how they would ever want to have anything to do with Democrats and if the left wing looks at their boards, the left wing feels the same about the right wing. How the people in this country ever get together on some common ground is beyond me with the visceral hatred going on.

3. And there are thousands more Terri Schiavo's for the Republicans
to use to tear the social fabric apart with. While the American public, left and right, chooses sides <this does cut across political labels> and have at it, the Republicans continue to jam their agenda through Congress.

There is, of course, no "right" position on this issue, there's just the opportunity to keep the public distracted from the real business we should be paying attention to.
