Washington's Darkest Secret

Washington’s Darkest Secret

Until six weeks before 9/11, for nearly a decade the CIA reportedly had a mole buried inside al Qaeda in a trusted position close to Osama bin Laden. Suddenly, his reports stopped. The CIA assumed that he was discovered, tortured and killed. Before he died, he likely revealed 9/11 plans.

to have prevented the horrific attacks that mild, sunny morning in September 2001.

Simply put, this is damning evidence for LIHOP.

2. Thanks a bunch for that
This was new to me: "...the CIA sponsored a fund raising and informational trip to the U.S. and Canada for him. Langley arranged visas, helped set up meetings in a number of cities for bin Laden, and paid for his ticket and hotels.“He was quite charming and very articulate,” Eric Margolis, a Toronto Sun columnist who met bin Laden when he was in Mississauga, Ontario on one of his CIA-arranged stops, said on a television panel discussion in early 2002. Others who met bin Laden on the whistle stop tour said he was accompanied by one of his aides who served as a translator, and the same pair of hovering but friendly Americans introduced variously as “Mike and Jeff,” “Allan and Frank” or “Bill and Edward.” "

I've read that he had visitied the US with his CIA buddies before, but that he travelled under an "assumed identity". But in this account I don't get the impression that he was hided his being Bin Laden to the Toronto Sun columnist and the anonymous others he met. Well well well. This can't have been many years before the first WTC bombing in 1993. Did he set up the Al-Qaeda mosque in New York during this visit?

3. Quite an article, which raises many questions!
It seems to me that the attack on Afghanistan was poorly thought out. For one thing, it scattered al Quaeda and gave bin Laden an escape route.

It almost sounds like Tenet and junior were working against each other.
