Moscow Times Covers Voter Fraud and Clint Curtis Story
Global Eye
By Chris Floyd

http://www.themoscowtimes.com/stories/2005/04/08/120.html

Let's face the facts. The game is over and we -- the "reality-based community," the believers in genuine democracy and law, the heirs of Jefferson and Madison, Emerson and Thoreau, the toilers and dreamers, all those who seek to rise above the beast within and shape the brutal chaos of existence into something higher, richer and imbued with meaning -- have lost. The better world we thought had been won out of the blood and horror of history -- a realm of enlightenment that often found its best embodiment in the ideals and aspirations of the American Republic -- is gone. It's been swallowed by darkness, by ravening greed, by bestial spirits and by willful primitives who now possess overwhelming instruments of power and dominion.

A gang of such spirits seized control of the U.S. government by illicit means in 2000 and maintained that control through rampant electoral corruption in 2004. The re-election of President George W. Bush last November was a deliberately shambolic process that saw massive lockouts of opposition voters; unverifiable returns compiled by easily hackable machines operated by avowed corporate partisans of the ruling party; and vast discrepancies between exit polls and final results – gaps much larger than those that led elections in Ukraine and Georgia to be condemned as manipulated frauds. Indeed, a panel of statisticians said last week that the odds of such a discrepancy occurring naturally were 959,000 to 1, the Akron Beacon-Journal reported.

<snip>

Late last year, Congress heard sworn testimony from Florida programmer Clint Curtis, who created vote-rigging software in 2000 at the request of Tom Feeny, a Bush Family factotum. Feeny wanted Curtis (a fellow Republican) and his employer, Yang Enterprises, to produce untraceable programs that could "control the vote" as needed, investigator Brad Friedman reported. Feeny also told Curtis of Bush plans to "suppress the black vote" with "exclusion lists." This is exactly what happened. BBC investigator Greg Palast has shown that tens of thousands of legitimate African-American voters were deliberately "purged" from the rolls by a private Republican-controlled corporation hired by Florida Governor Jeb Bush. Afterwards, Feeny -- who had been Jeb's running mate in his first gubernatorial campaign -- was rewarded for his dutiful service with a plum congressional seat.

16. IT'S HAPPENING: 19 days that could "turn the tide":
- Mar 31st: US Count Votes report released (mentioned in this thread's article):

Analysis - Vote Counts May Have Been Altered
http://www.uscountvotes.org

Scientific Analysis Suggests Presidential Vote Counts May Have Been Altered
Group of University Professors Urges Investigation of 2004 Election
http://electionarchive.org/ucvAnalysis/US/Exit_Polls_2004_Edison-Mitofsky.pdf

"Officially, President Bush won November's election by 2.5%, yet exit polls showed Kerry winning by 3% <1> . According to a report to be released today by a group of university statisticians, the odds of a discrepancy this large between the national exit poll and election results happening by accident are close to 1 in a million.

In other words, by random chance alone, it could not have happened. But it did.

Two alternatives remain. Either something was wrong with the exit polling, or something was wrong with the vote count.

Exit polls have been used to verify the integrity of elections in the Ukraine, in Latin America, in Germany, and elsewhere. Yet in November 2004, the U.S. exit poll discrepancy was much more than normal exit poll error (and similar to that of the invalid Ukraine election.<2> )"

19. Tom, thank you. You solved a big problem for me this morning.
Since last night I've been looking for a way to track down an apparent, severe, loophole I discovered inadvertenly yesterday in the new Ohio election law.

Through your post (I hadn't been aware of the conference before) I tracked down Bernie Ellis, and was able to get the material to him so he can pass it on to attendees from Ohio.

FWIW: It sure looks to me like this whole issue may be getting ready to blow up in the face of BushCo.

FYI:

Subject: VVPB Loophole in new Ohio law (HB 262)

Just stumbled upon this looking for info on OH polling places.

This apparently means the paper ballots can be destroyed at the end of voting day, and will not be available for random audits and recounts. Unbelievable!

(emphasis below is mine)

HB 262 -- FINAL VERSION AS SIGNED BY GOVERNOR 5/04

http://www.legislature.state.oh.us/bills.cfm?ID=125_HB_...

(125th General Assembly)
(Substitute House Bill Number 262)
-----------------------------------
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of Ohio:
SECTION 1. That sections... 3506.01, ... be amended... to read as follows:
Sec. 3506.01.
(H)..."The physical paper printout shall be securely retained at the polling place until the close of the polls on the day of the election..."
-----------------------------------

There's not a single word in it requiring printouts to be locked up, safeguarded, put in storage, made available for recounts, made available for audits, etc. Nothing.

Any thoughts on what we might do to validate this suspicion and take action if necessary?

Why are they reporting this and not the U.S.? At least Brad the Blogger (something like that) is also reporting it and a few other bloggers. This story is unbelievable. Would like to know more, especially the hearing where Curtis testified.

6. These are the words that could awaken America!
This is the most powerful rhetoric I've read since Thomas Paine!

I haven't even read the article yet--just the post--but it's extraordinary and true.

I wasn't aware of Clint Curtis--despite following the topic closely. Shows what kind of a media environment we're in.

This is one hell of a blast! Bravo!

11. It's so important this story has not died out yet.
I read some about Clint Curtis at D.U. earlier. I had NOT learned, however, that in addition to his suicide, it was discovered he was beaten. (So many suicides follow self-beatings, right?) It gives more substance to the story, for sure.

Also, the article illuminates a fact most people who live away from Florida would NOT know: rotten, filthy Tom Feeney (whom you remember from tv news as the asshole who rounded up support during the 2000 Presidential vote recount in Florida to dismiss the original slate of electors and send a totally NEW slate to Washington if it became established Al Gore had won there) was ALSO the first running mate of Jeb Bush.

Here's a photo of the bastard with George W. Bush.

I'm praying there will be more investigation of Clint Curtis, and the 2000 and 2004 elections. It's WONDERFUL seeing this news is not being overlooked elsewhere. It may take having our "enemies" shaming the Republicans to get them to clean up their filthy acts.

this weekend. Brad (the blogger) will also be speaking. (Actually, it was a Fl gov't employee that "suicided".)

14. Great! Thanks for setting me straight on this.
Went to see who the heck got suicided, found it was Ray C. Lemme, a seasoned senior investigator with the Florida DOT Inspector General's Office and a combat veteran of the Vietnam War.

18. Yes, but this BELONGS in LBN
Other flaws aside, the fact that important commentary on serious flaws in America's democracy is relegated to, of all places, The Moscow Times, is major.

Plus, the rhetoric here is as powerful as any I've ever read.
