Frist's intolerance (Boston Globe)
Frist's intolerance

April 16, 2005

SNIP>>JUST AS the number two man in the US House, Tom DeLay. is being abandoned by a few brave Republicans who, we hope, will be the vanguard of a growing movement, the leader of the Senate, Bill Frist, has grabbed the spotlight. Frist has joined evangelical Christian conservatives who are charging that Democrats who oppose President Bush's judicial nominees are ''against people of faith."<<

1. I like what Juan Cole said about this
This is so patently offensive that I don't have adequate words to describe how truly wrong this is: <...>
If you don't share our politics, you hate the baby Jesus.

If you don't share our politics, you hate religious people.

If you don't share our politics, you are evil.

Congrats, Republicans. Our leaders have now taken the traditional rhetorical demonization of our opposition and elevated it to heavenly heights. I assume my friends on the right are going to spend the week-end attacking me for being a 'religious bigot' because I rightly point out the inappropriateness of this behavior.

2. Good article.
Come on Fristy, show us the proof that democrats are blocking nominees because of their religion.

I think Frist may be walking over a political cliff. Did he forget that to become president it takes more than the christian fundamentalist vote. Maybe he just got confused when they were talking about Bush winning because of the evangelicals?

3. This is the weak link of these Neo-Cons
They must satisfy their Christian Taliban or loose the votes to continue their reign of terror. It will come back and bite them.
