The right-wing brain is a thing of wonder, more amazing than a six-legged frog. If I had one stuffed in a mayonaise jar, I'd charge admission to see it.

The Right's most recent collective brain child is the "stalking horse" theory, which goes like this: The Clintons talked Wesley Clark into the race for the presidential nomination so that he would be a "stalking horse" meant to confound the campaigns of the other nine candidates, notably Howard Dean. This would leave room for a last-minute entry by Hillary Clinton in 2004.

2. What slimy character that Safire is.
He even looks sleazy. Somehow these guys still think that any Dem candidate link to Clintons is the kiss of death. Or, at least will sow trouble among the Dems.

4. I have a feeling as the campaign progresses
and Clark enunciates his positions and comes up with an agenda, this will be old news.

3. These people never give up
Hillary is not running for president. She will not be Wesley's Clark's VP. Many other people wanted Clark to run. The primaries will produce a strong Dem nominee, and he will have a good chance to win in 2004.

7. One of 'em
My web buddy stirling newberry -- I don't know if he's ever on DU -- has been working on the draft Clark effort for a while, and he's one of the smartest people I know. I don't always agree with him, but by golly he's got a brain in his head. So I respect his opinions.
