2. I'm confused
Didn't she initially claim ignorance of what was going on in Abu Ghraib, which I thought less than credible at the time.
What prompts this new revelation?

3. I wonder if Task Force 121 names pop up...
http://www.newyorker.com/fact/content/?031215fa_fact

"Many of them fear that the proposed operation—called “preëmptive manhunting” by one Pentagon adviser—has the potential to turn into another Phoenix Program. Phoenix was the code name for a counter-insurgency program that the U.S. adopted during the Vietnam War, in which Special Forces teams were sent out to capture or assassinate Vietnamese believed to be working with or sympathetic to the Vietcong. In choosing targets, the Americans relied on information supplied by South Vietnamese Army officers and village chiefs. The operation got out of control."

Those figures where something like 90% of prisoners shouldn't have been there...looks like Phoenix all over again.

5. Whole lot more to Gen Karpinski's story than Pentagon/WH want known.
Maj Gen. Barbara Fast, recently promoted to be the Commander of Fort Huachuca, Arizona which is the Military Intelligence Command which also contains the military intelligence training school that is responsible for training interrogation methods and procedures.

It was Gen Fast who was charged with the gathering of intelligence in Iraq thus she was the one who commanded Abu Ghraib. It also a little bit ironic that along with Gen Fast's promotion, one of her subordinates a Major who was also involved in Abu Ghraib was also sent back to Fort Huachuca and given the Command of the Intelligence Training School and promoted to COL.

It was soon after the Abu Ghraib outing that Fast and her subordinates were quickly shipped back to Fort Huachuca and little was mentioned of them.

The regular military tried to make it look like Gen Karpinski was in charge of Abu Ghraib? Gen Karpinski was/is a Reserve/Guard Commander of Military Police. In one of her few interviews, she explained that when she arrived in Iraq, her units were placed under the control of Regular Army and she understood that they would perform as guards and not as interrogators.

Anyone with any knowledge of the Military and especially Fort Huachuca would understand that this was the perfect opportunity for the Military Intelligence personnel to actually put into practice the lessons they had learned. Most of their training at Fort Huachuca, was/is comprised of role-playing in staged POW camps......how could their role-playing in actual war time conditions, actually play out is what the public is not being told.

If anyone thinks that a few Pfc's, Sgts, or that Gen. Karpinski all Guard or Reserve Officer was given this much control over the Abu Ghraib's/Gitmo's while the Regular Army with the Gen Barbara Fast's and her subordinates were gleeful that they were actually able to do what they had been trained to do and with it the promotions that would follow.....are the same who think that George W. Bush was honest when he led them into this war.

Gen Karpinski needs to tell her story the problem is getting people to listen to her.

6. Sen. John McCain, himself a POW was against giving Barbara Fast
the promotion/assignment as Commander of the Intelligence Center until she was absolutely cleared of Abu Ghraib.

Seems Rumsfeld and the Whitehouse promoted her like they did all the rest of the f...ups. Keep a lid on the press, and just don't talk about it.

8. GoldenOldie, any info on those pics the military/admin don't want released
The only thing I can make out of it is something similar to what Michael Aquino was up to-- while at the Presidio in SF many years ago --may have been S.O.P. Aquino later had access to military recordkeeping and personnel files while in the mid-West later on. From the accounts of what are on those photos, the military itself could have sanctioned those acts along with 'military intelligence'.

What the heck is going on in MI, GoldenOldie ?
