The Nation: Republicans Relaunch the Antigay Culture Wars
As George Bush's poll numbers began seriously dwindling, Karl Rove and the White House political strategists decided to reach into their bag of tricks and come up with a good old staple of reactionary politics: homophobia.

The article then goes on to relate GOP attempts on federal and state levels to make same-sex marriage Issue #1 in the upcoming election. Much of this information has not appeared in he mainstream press. Very interesting and useful article.

2. This is what they do
How do you think they convince millions upon millions to vote against their best interests and for the them? By launching these idiotic, non-political, ideological, wedge issue crusades that polarize people against gays, or Muslims, or whoever the big, bad boogeyman is this week.

If they had to focus on their record on the economy, the war in Iraq, the environment, and so on, they would get destroyed.

3. Unable to win the war on terror
start a new one against 'gays'.

One thing I'm not sure about...
Do gays have weapons of mass destruction?
Or do they have lots of oil fields?

4. No, but we're a natural political resource
to at least one party.

7. Which party?
Log Cabin Republicans come to mind...
(It makes no sense to me, no matter how much you think you benefit economically, to support a party that calls for your extermination. It's like Jews supporting Nazi's, it's a non-sequitor)

6. Bush's statement to Congress..
"The British have learned that soon there will be no fewer than 2 spinoffs of "Will and Grace" and the team from "Queer Eye" can be deployed within 45 minutes to anywhere in the eastern United States."

Sheesh, MORONS!

First their media goes gay-crazy and then they manufacture a backlash.

Thesis - Antithesis = Synthesis
