GOP expands on D.C. excesses
Folks who once vowed to bring a new way of doing business to D.C. -- a "Contract With America" was their 1994 slogan -- are available for hire.

-snip-

Wasn't it Nethercutt who argued that House Speaker Tom Foley had become a creature of the capital? Who mocked Foley for building a home there? Who claimed Foley had lost touch with Spokane?

Nethercutt has gone into partnership with former Interior Undersecretary Stephen Griles and Andrew Lundquist, who was director of Vice President Dick Cheney's secretive National Energy Policy Task Force.

-snip-

What's amazing, however, is how the Republicans have expanded all the excesses they howled at when Democrats ran the show in D.C. Examples:

The K-Street Project: Since gaining control of Congress in 1994, Republican leaders on Capitol Hill have pressured major D.C. lobbying firms to hire only Republicans and not to employ Democrats or contribute to their causes.
