Why suicide attackers haven't hit U.S. again
By Rick Hampson
USA TODAY

NEW YORK — After the bombings in London and Sharm el-Sheik, Egypt, the question that rivets America is one that has no sure answer: Why haven't Muslim militants executed another suicide terror attack on the U.S. home front?

<snip>

•U.S. Muslims want the American dream, not jihad. The United States has assimilated immigrant Muslims more successfully than Western Europe, where there is a higher proportion of poor, alienated Muslims, according to Ahmed Bedier of the Council on American-Islamic Relations. American Muslims seem to have more of a stake in keeping peace.

<snip>

Bloom, who has worked with the New Jersey Office of Counter-Terrorism, says the state's Arab and Muslim communities are “hotbeds of dissent. But they're not taking it to the next level. When a rabble-rouser comes to a mosque, he's met with a great deal of resistance. People in that community say (to the authorities), ‘Please come get this person.' ”

1. I regularly hear Right-Wing-a-lings complain that
the Muslim community does not speak out against Radical Islamists, but it appears that the community actually does a lot more than just speak out.

2. They don't need to,
that's why.

They achieved their objective.

Even a car backfire terrifies people anymore.

3. what a lot of BS
there are more poor Muslims in Europe for the simple reason that there are far more Muslims of "Arabic" background in Europe than in the US. The relation might be 1 to ten.

Besides the poor Muslims in Europe have a level of social security that most of even middle-class Americans would dream of.

The vast majority of European Muslims want the European dream, not jihad. And if you look at the background of arrested Muslim terrorists in Europe, they are not specially poor. On the contrary a lot of them have higher education and could or had succeeded socially and financially.

Besides : the European "successfull" attacks have only been 3 in 10 years : France 94-95 (the movement was then eradicated), then Madrid and London. The two later have links to the US SNAFU in Iraq.

"When a rabble-rouser comes to a mosque, he's met with a great deal of resistance. People in that community say (to the authorities), ‘Please come get this person.' ” - very good description of what happens in France.

the reason they blow themselves up is purely ideological and has nothing to do with social status...

The reasons for their poor achievements in the US (besides 9/11) are purely TECHNICAL. Probably for religious reasons (as usual) they are not very efficient. A secular movement, scientifically approaching its goals had been far more devastating.

Most of the attacks have been in 2nd or 3rd world countries, because they are far softer targets.

5. They don't want to hurt Bush. They need him ...
... right where he is. The terrorists can take out buildings and kill people, but they can't hurt America itself. That's why they are so thrilled with Bush.

7. It's because * CAVED to OSAMA'S demand
OBL wanted US out of the Muslim Holy Land.

9-11 happened; then

US pulls out of Saudi Arabia - no more air base there; AQ gets what they wanted.

One way to "Frame it" anyway...
