Beware Being 'Turned Back' At The Canadian Border
http://komotv.com/stories/38472.htm

... Tina's husband surprised her with a floatplane trip on Kenmore Air for a weekend in Victoria.

But she says her heart sank, when a they were denied entry into Canada, because her husband got a ticket for reckless driving five years ago.

... If you've been convicted of a crime in the United States, you can be turned back at the border, even if it happened years ago. And in Canada, a reckless driving conviction in the United States is equivalent to a felony in Canada.

... In many cases, you can avoid getting turned back at the border with what's called a rehab waiver. You can be granted a rehabilitation waiver if there's evidence that you no longer pose a threat of re-offending.

3. why'd we let Bush into the country for his visits?
He's got a conviction, and from what I can see, he hasn't stayed out of trouble and he isn't "gainfully employed". I think he should have to go through the same procedure as any other American in the same situation, with character references and so on (if he can find any positive ones, at this rate).
