'Bush-Meet With All of Us!'
I've written a new commentary on Bush and Cindy Sheehan:

Bush Meet With All of Us!

Excerpt:

... we believe in this country that no one is better than anyone else; we believe that it is self-evidently true "that all men are created equal." A leader who holds himself aloof or behaves as if it is beneath him to meet with regular citizens who just might be critics is more akin to a king than to the role of a president as envision by the drafters of our Constitution. Yet that is the characteristic that Bush has taken upon himself. His comment last week that "I think it's also important for me to go on with my life, to keep a balanced life", reminds me of the condescending remark about the people attributed to the French monarch, Marie Antoinette, ie., "Let them eat cake." The sense from Bush is that he is above or superior to or unaffected by large segments of the population that might question his policies and decisions ... he thinks it's more important right now to go ride his bicycle or take a nap.

That is what is really sparking the growing support for Cindy Sheehan ... it isn't necessarily the specifics of her demands, it is indeed the arrogance and detachment and obliviousness that Bush displays towards all us by rejecting the entreaties of this mother of a dead soldier.

... Not just 'Meet With Cindy!'
'Meet With All of Us!'

But what if George Bush stays holed up for the next three weeks at the 'Lazy W' ranchette and then slinks back inside the Washington beltway, securing himself in the White House cocoon -- without listening to and answering our questions? Then he will richly deserve the title that we will bestow upon him: "The Coward of Crawford."

1. Very very good.
I just read the whole thing, VERY good earthside. You should make a petition along similar lines, I would be proud to sign.
