2008: CHENEY VS. HILLARY
(This article has less to do with the title than a slam of **)

http://www.richardreeves.com/columns/latest.html

<snip>

Bush is in the process of destroying the American military.

It may get even worse for the president, who has made it quite clear over these months that he is not interested in dealing with people who disagree with him, beginning with poor women who have lost their children in Iraq. For what? Tell us again, Mr. President.

In 2002, the president revealed how he thought about other people's opinions and insights when he was interviewed for a book by Bob Woodward of The Washington Post. Woodward asked Bush whether he was listening to staff and advisers as he prepared for war, and the answer was: "Of course not. I'm the commander. See, I don't have to explain why I say things ... I don't feel like I owe anybody an explanation."

His belief that he does not have to explain anything will certainly restrict his social circle. If the war he wanted continues to go the way it seems to be going, he may be reduced to long conversations with the vice president, the secretary of defense and the secretary of state. They may be the only Americans who will not ask him to explain how he could have been so foolish. No wonder he wants to spend his time on a bicycle.

<snip>

Of course my mind may be clouded by too much sun or too many New Yorkers. Since there is no reason to talk about President Bush out here at the end of Long Island, folks all talk about President Clinton -- and I don't mean former President Clinton.

2. I just wish it were titled differently
because I know others would enjoy it, but if it is an article we have to put the title in the subject line per rules of the board.

3. Totally off-subject, but what's the story with the pic of the "flower boy"
I remember seeing that as a young kid in LIFE magazine, and it seriously shook me to the core--maybe even was instrumental in making me a lifelong liberal. Has there ever been a documentary or article about who that guy was, and what happened to him?
