Have you tried acupuncture? Sounds crazy, but it helps a lot of people with respiratory problems. Acupuncture cured my daughter of post-pneumonia wheezing/asthma virtually instantly, after she'd been wheezing for four months. My theory is that it relaxes tight muscles constricting the lungs. I've since spoken with a number of medical professionals who had success using acupuncture on certain respiratory conditions.
Worth a try, as it doesn't cost much and isn't likely to cause any side effects.
